Thank you Dave! This has definitely taught me to take this allergy stuff a lot more seriously! At least I know for next time to not just brush it off with an antihistamine tablet or two
What Did You Keto Today? The Trilogy!
Thank you Karen I totally agree with you there. Keto is an elimination diet, the only thing I think i eat that could have the potential to trigger my allergies is that chocolate. It’s the only thing prepared in a factory that could contain peanuts…if that’s what triggered the anaphylaxis in the first place. I still think it was the hempseeds but hopefully more blood tests will tell me more
My son has a slight allergy to hemp seeds, it came up on a screening. Not to the extent you experienced though. Of course the general screening also showed sensitivity to tomatoes, casein, soy, peanuts and tree nuts all to minimal degrees. I think it’s more at the inflammation level than out and out allergies.
Oh really? That’s good to know that they can pick up on an allergy to hemp seeds. During my many hours of waiting at the hospital in the night I read about allergies to hemp and read it can be hard to detect?
Bless him does your son not eat tomatoes?
I slip him a little now and then, his favorite foods were pizza and spaghetti with meat sauce but we’ve been steering away from tomatoes and gluten long before he went keto. But I did give him some daikon noodles with a little meat sauce recently. He tends to eat that stuff right quick and stretch other meals out forever. He was drinking lots of hemp milk when that was diagnosed so the levels may have been pretty high and easily detected.
Smaller Breakfast
My favorite scramble again, Tomato, Feta and Dill Weed. I am trying to get my IF window smaller and my first attempt at a tweak is eating a smaller lower fat breakfast so I get hungry earlier. Breakfast was holding me for 8-10 hours before I got truly hungry for my second meal and keeping my eating window too large. Wish me luck.
Sounds like my worst nightmare! I hope tomatoes aren’t next on the list of stuff to cut out. I did read that allergies to hempseeds and tomatoes come under the same ‘umbrella’…
He’s lucky to have such an awesome chef as his dad! Hope he’s doing ok.
That “umbrella” might indicate a sensitivity to high lectin foods. Do you have gut health issues?
Since I broke a Fast yesterday, through together some things for a lunch today… Pepperoni, Pickles, Olives, some Almonds, 3 Pickled Sausages, 3 Strawberries, Greek Yogurt, 2 cans Potted Meat with Pork Rinds, 1 can of Vienna’s and a Coconut Bai & bottle of Almond Milk. Also ate a little Mozzarella Cheese (half of what’s shown) and had two squares of Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate.
Oh no! I am super allergic to tomatoes and I have been eating heart of hemp seeds off & on recently…
Love this thread. Let’s me know how truly boring my meals are. I tend to eat a lot of the same things every day throughout the week and only venture out on weekends. Most of this is due to my work schedule, but probably need to vary my diet a little more, lol. Got a new Instant Pot and hoping I will learn some new recipes or at least just cook some really good meat!
Thanks @OgreZed Actually think that was one of the brands that I looked at too? Glad to hear you like it. Like @OldDoug stated, the regular ones I find a major PITA when you shake the hell out of them for barely naught.
Eeeeekkk watch out for that one then! Does your mouth feel funny after eating them?
Most restaurant pepper shakers - I don’t even **** with them; just take the top off right away. Then you can get some good pepper.
Do you ship?
At least you still have your sense of humor. That had to be very scary. Hope you are home and well now.
