We use Food Lion mostly because it’s only 5 minutes away, (And they are not bad really) Giant is 30 minutes either North or South from us. … There is a McKay’s close, but the couple times we’ve went in there, we just didn’t like it? But we’ve been talking about checking out Aldi’s, which hasn’t been there too long, and we were just discussing trying them out day before yesterday. Never been in one.
What did you Keto today? Part Deux!
I save so much at aldis, I eat a lot of ground beef, bacon, eggs, almond milk on occasion, they actually have a decent selection of meats and brats and burger and such!
Ya, well that’s what I’m trying to do with the liver. Small successes with it though I’m not getting a whole lot in me. I actually wonder if it’s a taste aversion thing, same as with Brussels sprouts tasting bitter to some (me) and cilantro tasting like soap to some? For me, liver tastes like blood or metal, very strong, overpowering.
I can’t imagine eating a pate’. It seems that’d make it worse. I try to hide it in stuff like omelettes.
I’d like to try the liverwurst from US Wellness meats but unfortunately they have a $100 minimum order. Maybe someday I’ll do a big mixed order.
Panko Zucchini
Mix crushed pork rinds, Parmesan cheese and garlic salt.
Scoop on to the flat side of split zucchini, pressing it in nice tight so it doesn’t fall off.
Drizzle ghee over surface and bake until golden and crispy. I used an air fryer at 350 degrees, about 20 minutes.
Served with a drizzle of homemade pizza sauce.
Smashed flattop cheese burgers
Your Keto-Bread looks nice. … I’m not big on breads in general, but seeing it here and there does look nice and makes me at least want to try some.
Thanks Dave! I totally get what you mean. It’s the only one I’ve ever liked, and at 1g net carbs a slice I love it even more! Its nice toasted or just served cold, and is perfect for mopping up what’s left on the plate just like tonight! It soaked up the remaining ghee and juices from the tomatoes just perfectly! it’s the little things!
Last night’s dinner was Salmon Chowder. Seems fancy, takes 20 minutes with stuff I usually have in the house–salmon, cream, an onion, dill, and some celery if I have it. The recipe calls for a turnip, but I only ever add that if I plan ahead (aka, almost never). I also usually add a little white wine. Gratuitous dog in background.
Thanks! It was really a happy accident. I was adding ground heart in my sausages to increase nutrition and lower price. I had to taste for seasoning and was like “Hmmm tastes much like tartar I’ll have to try it”
Did you buy it pre-minced or from a butcher that minced it for you? What else did you put in it?
Thanks @ClareBear @monsterjuice, will have to give it a try. Is this the one from DD site then?
I believe it’s this one. https://www.sugarfreemom.com/recipes/keto-low-carb-coconut-flour-bread/
eggs scrambled with fajita-seasoned beef, salsa and butter, steamed broccoli, avocado covered with everything but the bagel seasoning, green olives & some breakfast sausage! mm-mm-mmmm
