Look who’s talkin! :yum:

(Allie) #644

Yesterday I bought a belly pork joint to share with the boyfriend today… this is my half :joy:

(MelissaH) #645

Do you mind sharing your chili recipe @JustPeachy looks delicious on this rainy day!

(Sophie) #646

Not at all, but it’s just stuff I threw into the crock pot, no real “recipe”.
2lbs ground hamburger
1/2 package each of mild and hot chorizo sausage (I buy one pkg each and split them up and freeze them)
1 med white onion, diced
2 cans Black Soy Beans ( I had to order a case online since I can’t get them in a store anywhere)
4 cans diced tomatoes
2 tbs diced, pickled jalapenos ( I put these up in the summer)
(Sometimes I chop up a bell pepper but not is batch)
Paprika
Chili Powder
Salt & Pepper

Spices are to taste. Brown the hamburger and chorizo, place in the crock pot with the rest of the stuff and cook on high all day. I usually sample the liquid in the late afternoon to check and make sure I have enough chili powder/jalapenos. It makes a Boat Load of chili so you’ll be eating it for days! And it’s always better left over too. Top it with shredded cheddar. Bon Appetit!

Thanks so much!!!

Decided to eat some lunch before heading out to the store… 5 Fried Eggs, Bacon, Ground Sausage and a nice Filet-Mignon, which was very tender.

Also, have a nice Delmonico Steak presently in the pot, (8-9 hrs.) Actually trying out my Sous Vide for the first time tonight. Should be in around 10-11 hrs. when it’s pulled out here shortly. Looking forward to it.

Going to a Bible small group study that has dinners from various countries. Tonight is German. They’re going to have all kinds of sausages. Potato salad. I’m bringing a red cabbage dish. Lovely raspberry vinegar. Sweetened with erythritol and a little Maplelline to taste like brown sugar. Onions of course. Sauted in bacon fat.I’m not going to let anyone know that it has a sweetener in it and I should be able to eat it because, well, it’s Keto.

There’s two cinnamon sticks. I can see one. Hope I can find it before I serve it.

Does this work well? Because it sure sounds nice. … I was wondering if there was anything that could possibly replace Brown Sugar, since I did indeed use it in a lot of recipes, especially in Asian Cooking I would do.

(Karen) #651

I read this on a keto website that you could take Erythritol and use Maybelline and stir it then they used something else to keep it moist can’t remember like a glycerin or something. They said it made it taste like brown sugar. Nothing tastes like brown sugar but perhaps it’s close.

#652

Thanks. - Definitely worth looking into.

(Running from stupidity) #653

WOOHOO!

Is there a particular shade that works best? Passion Pink or something?

(I Am The Egg Man ku-ku-kachoo) #654

Apparently I’m going to have to do the same. My go-to stores locally don’t seem to have them…
Did I read somewhere that Walmart has them? I never shop there.

(Karen) #655

Dang! Maple sugar.:wink::wink:

#656

I use Lakanto Golden as a brown sugar replacement. Also love the classic white and powdered sugars. Oh and their maple syrup is the best!

(Karen) #657

Looks great. How’s the taste??

K

#658

It does taste artificial but not too bad. I think I’m getting used to it. I’ve used it in brownies, cinnamon rolls, muffins, bbq sauce and cheesecake crusts. We’ve eaten it raw, sprinkled over churros and it’s not bad at all.

(Sophie) #659

Screw the middle man, order direct from the MFG.

I just ordered this!

Didn’t have any ideas for dinner tonight so i took some precooked chicken thighs out the freezer, threw them back in the sous vide to warm up. Chopped up mushrooms and threw them in a pan with butter and avocado oil, deglazed with a Marsala wine, added some leftover coconut cream and heavy whipping cream, reduced by 1/3. Removed the thighs from sous vide, seasoned, and seared. Chopped up brussels and red onion, sautéed in bacon fat. Poured the sauce over the thighs. It was $$$! Not bad for throwing something together :joy:
