What did you Keto today? Part Deux!

#3783

Actually picked up a new slicer not long ago, and the glove they throw in is pretty nice. Prevents being cut when you hit the blade. … Will definitely be looking at buying another, especially if it gets worn.

Slicer actually works quite well too. Been happy with the results so far and they also throw in a spiralizer that we haven’t done much with yet, but did test out on some Zucchini and it looked fine.

USING THE VEGETABLE HOLDING PUSH PIECE is MANDATORY! :cowboy_hat_face:

Taco Bolognese. What more needs be said? Get it in yer belly.

I don’t know Juice… I think I may have to hunt you down and invite myself to dinner!!! LOL! Your food looks amazing!

(Running from stupidity) #3787

It’s funny, I was talking to my wife last night while she was making cooking dinner (and I was setting up my new insanely expensive light box ($53!)), and we were discussing keto food and how essentially simple it was. But also how a nice plate/bowl (bought the blue bowl above for a dollar last week from the Salvos  , careful and planned plating and good photos can make it look much more than the sum of the parts

Genuine (and rare from me to you, non-sarcastic) question about this. What does planning the plating involve? Do you sometimes leave things off the plate at the time of taking a shot that you’ll add back in later, because it makes the photo not look as good but in reality you’ll be eating? For example on the taco bolognese photo above, everything is in nice proportions but maybe you love the cream and/or peppers, and end up drowning the whole plate in them afterwards?

Do you work out proportions and roughly where everything will go on the plate? Sincerely curious since your shots always look amazing.

More leftovers, lather, rinse, repeat. Open-faced chili cheese dogs with mustard, no-sugar added ketchup and a smattering of minced onion…this time with a pic!

(The amazing autoimmune šŸ¦„) #3791

Try cream cheese, it worked well in my cream of mushroom soup.

#3792

Will have to do that. We’ve used Cream Cheese in some other stuff, but not in the Broccoli/Cauliflower. But I will definitely do this, since I actually love Cream Cheese.

Salad lunch

A bit of a haphazard salad at work after I wasn’t originally going to eat. Ended up with salmon, sardines, a very small portion of chicken, spinach, egg, blue cheese, pink Himalayan salt, and an olive grove’s worth of oil.

Lazy dinner

Couldn’t find the energy to make a proper meal for dinner. Cooked a full dinner for my daughter (obviously, otherwise she’d go without anything!) but couldn’t even think what to make for myself. Ended up with my ultimate fallback lazy dinner. Just some heated up Australian corned beef bathed in its own juices with a bit of cream cheese on the top. Ridiculously tasty for the minute amount of prep it takes. Also ate a bit more of the jerky I made recently.

Thank you (sincerely) :australia: Australia for exporting the most delicious corned beef. I’ve never found any other imports or local brands that come close. I pick this one up in Asian supermarkets in the area.

Birthday drink

I was originally going to have a nice glass of Scotch tonight but not feeling well and not in the mood for it. Obviously non-keto stuff like birthday cakes are out of the picture and I avoid most sweeteners. After a long day that really dragged on, I made myself a hot chocolate with some cacao powder my wife had picked up, hot water, and a splash of heavy cream. The taste of the raw chocolate was really nice. Not exactly the same sort of hot chocolate I’d have had pre-keto (hot milk, milk chocolate, sugar, marshmallows etc - ugh) but made a nice change from the usual coffee or salted water.

Chicken Schnitzel with Coleslaw & Dijonnaise.

(Running from stupidity) #3796

#OHYEAH

#3797

Twas a bit ho hum sadly :slightly_frowning_face: I’ve discovered that chicken breast is great for chicken parma but it’s a bit bland for schnitzel. The dijonnaise helped though

(Running from stupidity) #3798

Are you suggesting that the camera can LIE?

Yeah, we use thighs for just about everything, and they’re AWESOME for schnitzel.

#3799

It does look good if I do say so myself but in the interests of honesty… Thigh schnitzel in future

I’m glad I’m not the only who read this the wrong way!

#3801

Forgot to post last night’s meal… NY Strip Steak, Sous Vide all day and seared on grill. Also did some Hot uncured Sausage, and some Sausage/Hamburger Patties. … Then added some Brussel Sprouts fried up with Sauerkraut, Deviled Eggs, Pickles and Olives.

(Allie) #3802

I just sat at my desk eating plain Bulgarian yoghurt followed by pickled gherkins and cheese, followed by pickled red cabbage… :grinning:
