What did you Keto today? Part Deux!

(Ernest) #2801

This changes everything!!! Found this slab at Sam’s Club on sale for $5. My guess is it’s in trial phase

(Troy) #2802

If so, I want in on this trial!
Nice

I’m doing the sams club Tri-fecta rounds this weekend
3 different stores
I guess I could call🤔
That takes the fun out of it, besides it may not be inventoried

(Running from stupidity) #2803

I find it guilty of looking delicious.

(Running from stupidity) #2804

Also, a kilo for $5? I hate you all.

(Heather Meyer) #2805

i think ya go the wrong psyllium husk mate.
I used to get purple buns too…always came out with a strange texture until i got the other kind of psyllium. Dont suppose you got a bulk barn store near you?

#2806

The only thing available in bulk in @juice 's neighbourhood is hipsters

I agree. Some people are sensitive to it, but that is true of anything. I see no reason walnuts should be banned just because they make my mouth itchy. I can see why peanuts should be kept out of primary schools and airplanes, since the allergy can be fatal in such small amounts. But msg is not on that level.

I’m not 100% sure I agree msg isn’t an additive because it isn’t a simple ingredient. I can’t grow it or raise it or mine it. Msg is naturally in other foods like seaweed and mushrooms, but as an isolated ingredient it must be highly processed. That said I don’t have a problem with it.

(Running from stupidity) #2808

No barns in inner-city Melbourne

Apparently the recipe says it might turn purple. I think purple is awesome as a bun colour.

(Running from stupidity) #2809

Correct.

And, this week, cream cheese

Yep.

I see no reason walnuts should be banned just because they make my mouth itchy.

What’s that like as a feeling? How does it manifest itself?

I’m not 100% sure I agree msg isn’t an additive because it isn’t a simple ingredient.

No, me either, I was just kidding a little while defending it

(Sophie) #2810

Many thanks to @rhltechie for the Zuppa Toscana recipe! It turned out really lovely even with my few modifications. If we ever finish eating this (huge) batch I’ll definitely be making this again!

(Heather Meyer) #2811

Maybe its my eyes fooling me but when i made purple buns i found they had a slight vineger taste. But i can say if thats due to the ACV or soem chemical reaction or what?

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #2812

The inside of my mouth and tongue feel itchy, like I need to scratch them. It’s a weird sensation. Whatever it’s doing to mucosal membranes I’m assuming it’s doing all the way down, it least till my stomach, but I can’t feel it further along than my mouth.

If I don’t eat them for a long time I can get away with a little. I thought I was over the allergy since I’ve been eating small amounts of walnuts with apparent impunity, but I just got a huge ol’ zit like I used to get when I ate wheat. Maybe coincidence. When my skin fully heals I might try again. I love walnuts! I would love to be able to eat them again!

#2813

Pulled pork with sugar free barbecue sauce and homemade coleslaw.

I was out for lunch and the burger place I stopped at served chopped burger on zucchini slices with diced tomatoes so I added mushrooms and avocado and smothered it with chipotle ranch mayo.

(Running from stupidity) #2814

Yeah, that would be my guess too.

Yeah, I bet.

Whatever it’s doing to mucosal membranes I’m assuming it’s doing all the way down, it least till my stomach, but I can’t feel it further along than my mouth.

Yeah, that sort of invisible irritation you can do without.

I love walnuts! I would love to be able to eat them again!

That’s super-annoying, indeed. Given how restrictive keto is as a diet, losing something like that is frustrating.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #2815

Exactly

Yeah, but walnuts have been an issue since I was a teenager. It’s more like not getting something back than losing it. I was just hoping all the “keto cured my allergies” talk was true for me.

(Running from stupidity) #2816

I was hoping for some mental clarity…

(Brennan) #2817

Fried pork belly with avacado mayo for dip.

(Karen) #2818

Lotta people have a sensitivity to walnuts. Sometimes I use Chloraseptic spray when I have and Itch in The back of my throat. And my mouth gets itchy when I eat certain things. Raw carrots, celery apple skins walnuts cantaloupe. Some of these things are secondary allergy to something else. The following article talks about some of these oral allergies and similarities to Pollens in other items.

A birthday dinner for my oldest daughter at her grandma’s house. A bison burger, and a hamburger, a little mayonnaise dill pickles, lettuce and tomato. A nice hot cup of tea.

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #2820

Very interesting. Maybe I haven’t had the itching lately because the pollen in China is different than in the PNW. Hmmm… That also seems to let the walnuts off the hook for the monster zit. I’ve avoided eating them because my mom said the reaction got worse with age for both her and my Nana. But they also stayed in the same floral environment. I will have to do some experimenting!
