What are your favorite nuts and/or seeds?

I’d love to hear about everyone’s favorite nuts and/or seeds. How often do you eat them? Have you ever given them up for a while and lost more weight?

I rely on this chart, it’s surprising how different the carbs are in different nuts.

I love almonds, macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, but had to give up eating them as a snack. I would eat too many and end up getting too many calories and carbs.

But I still do make these easy pecan cookies from time to time. I add Lily’s chocolate chips and unsweetened coconut. Eating them as cookies means I don’t snack on them the same as eating nuts or seeds directly.

Macadamia’s and I limit myself to no more than 10 a day. I usually have them daily.

Toasted, salted sunflower seed kernels.

I took a bag with me to China last week and it was a life-saver since all the airplane food was cheap carbage. I tucked a plastic spoon in the baggie to eat them with because the seeds are so small I end up spilling some trying to get them into my mouth!

I grow my own pumpkins and love freshly roasted pumpkin seeds. I like the kind you can buy without the shells, too.

Pecans are one of my favorites. But I also like a little peanut butter, usually with my yogurt when I have that for breakfast, maybe a couple of times a week. Not a lot, but I like some. I know, it’s not really a true nut, it’s technically a legume, and it’s easily overeaten if not mindful. I do have some almonds but only as almond meal and made into stuff like muffins, I don’t have the iron teeth required to actually chew up whole almonds. Seldom have macadamia nuts as they’re pretty expensive here. Walnuts are an occasional thing, not that often.

My mum does this with her homegrown pumpkins too. SO yummy!!

Macadamia nuts
Pecans
Walnuts

They are so expensive though and so easy to over eat. I found a heck of a deal on some walnuts at a bargain hunt though.

Macadamia nuts are by FAR my favourite nuts <3 Almonds used to be, but macadamias are much higher in fat and lower in carbs so I prefer them now. I also love brazil nuts but they are quite rich so I usually only eat 2-3 at a time.

Pecans!

I love all nuts… they could definitely be my keto kryptonite- that was a great thread, & nuts were one of the most common things to come up! I try not to snack, so have them as part of a meal; I tried the pecan cookies @OgreZed mentioned, yum, I eat walnuts fried in sage butter with courgettes, & love the DietDoctor seed crackers, have them regularly for lunch. I love nuts & seeds with yoghurt occasionally for breakfast (don’t normally eat it), but don’t find it that failing so usually end up hungrier!
You’re not thinking of giving them up as well as the dairy are you?

Brazils are great. I find them quite a “meaty” nut so you don’t need to eat a lot of them, they’re also very high in selenium which can help boost testosterone levels

#15

There isn’t a nut I haven’t been crazy about.

Macadamias, and I have had to stop eating them because I was clearly eating too many. For me, it was seefood… you know the gag… :joy::joy:

Made this mistake last weekend when I had cashews…live and learn

#18

Made this mistake this weekend. Oi vey. I don’t think it’s safe for me to have cashews in the house, full stop. :anguished:

#19

Macadamia because they taste great and don’t spike my appetite the way pistachio and cashews do. Every 3 or 4 days I have a weird “ravenous” day and wind up eating a bunch of macadamia nuts.

My favorites are pecans, almonds, and macadamia nuts. Usually I eat pecans mostly, because they are cheaper and they are my favorite. I will break my fast tomorrow with a small amount of macadamia nuts because they have more fat, then eat a meal an hour or so later. For me macadamia nuts are becoming more of a fast breaking ritual. My wife however prefers almonds.
