Pecans are really good - like that low-carb content. Macadamias - had never had them before; got a bag of them a month or so ago. Wow, are they compelling! I better stay away from those bad boys.
What are your favorite nuts and/or seeds?
Pecans. My grandparents had several trees, so I used to get more than I could eat, but now I have to buy them like everyone else. The best way to control consumption is to buy them in the shell. It’s hard to mindlessly overeat them if you have to shell them.
I can’t have large amounts of roasted and salted nuts in the house, especially macadamias. I once bought a 5 lb bag. Never again.
I’m a pecan lover too! But then again, I’m a Georgia Girl, so I guess it comes naturally.
A short aside; my country grandma had over a half dozen pecan trees on her property…in the fall she would pick up all the pecans and sell them off to a farm distributor. She then used the money to pay her property taxes for the year. I always thought that was brilliant!
That is a good way, but I am to LAZZZYYY!!! We buy the big bag, then portion them into smaller snack size bags with 1/4 cup serving. With 1 bag per serving it is definitely easier to control your portion sizes.
Im too scared to eat nuts.
They were never really a major part of my diet beforehand.
I love almonds and cashews but I’m a glutton and once I start I can’t stop, it’s best I leave them out of my diet all together.
But if you can, one small hand full a day is good for you. I have actually been able to keep it to one small handful per day. If I can, anyone can!
I’ll hold you to that Regina. I have some macadamias at home I will eat after I break my fast
Macadamias are one of the best for keto. But I had to kinda acquire a taste for them. Sadly, cashews aren’t on the keto approved list. THEY are my absolute favorite! Along with pistachios.
Pistachios! I totally forgot about those. I love those little buggers.
Only 3/4 for me; Peacan, Macadamia and Brazil nuts… sometimes almonds. Macadamia are my go to though; love their texture and appearance; they are now a treat though as I completely over did them at the start of changing my diet.
My absolute favorites are Pili nuts. They are very expensive, though and hard to come by.
They have a super-buttery taste (seriously, the taste is like butter!) and a very soft consistency.
Sunflower seeds because they are relatively inexpensive at Trader Joe’s. And although not technically a nut, peanut butter, because it is a go-to keto snack when I’m feeling hungry.
Always loved almonds, as they have a great nutritional profile as well, https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/269468.php
I agree w/ Zimon … if you like Macadamia nuts, then would should REALLY try Pili nuts. They are similar but have a more … buttery/creamy texture.
Every month we go to Costco and buy bags of Pecans, Macadamias, and Cashews. I’m addicted to Pecans. We then mix them up in a big bowl at a ratio of about 1/1/0.3 and ziploc bag them as 1oz snacks. Great way to have a snack ready to go at anytime. Works great at theme parks too.
Additionally, Pecans have more polyphenols and antioxidants than red wine, so it’s like I’m constantly bathing my blood vessels in “relaxation”!
I would love to try pili nuts - they sound so interesting (and yum). But I’ve never seen them in Australia no matter where I’ve looked (and no matter how fancy/spendy the health food shop )
