Bulleit bourbon and water… only thing I can drink without risk of overindulging… perfect after a long hike while sitting beside a still lake around a beautiful :fire:

First choice,

Any clear liquor that you can drink by itself, vodka, scotch, bourbon, tequila, gin or rum.

Second choice, any of the above with a diet mixer that you do not react to or unsweetened lemon or lime juice or wedges of lemon or lime (make sure they are clean!)

Third choice

Champagne, then dry red wine, then dry white

I do make a couple of cocktails at home that are not purely low carb but are ok

White Russian with Vodka, Tia Maria (has some carbs) and cream and ice.

Sloe Gin Fizz with Sloe Gin (I do not think that has carbs but not sure), the juice and pulp of half a lime (can use lemon), swerve to taste, ice and seltzer

Captain Morgan Rum and Zevia Cola. I second the sitting around a nice high mountain lake enjoying a fire and a cocktail. Special treat.

I only drink other people’s expensive Scotch.

(Keto Victory) #7

Perfect!

Otherwise, buy lowest-shelf rotgut brand of whatever unsweetened booze you like least.

#8

I like rum and lacroix or rum and Diet Pepsi (I know, I know, bad) or Mix It margarita mix with silver tequila.

Right now, in my 5th week of keto, I’m not drinking anything. Normally, I would enjoy a glass of red (Pinot Noir & Merlot for CA, or Bordeaux for FR) or white wine (Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc) every now and then. Have not been much of a drinker since Dx’d w/ T2DM, as it raises my BS pretty high. Will be interesting to see down the road how my BS reacts to alcohol once I am fully fat adapted and off all my current meds.

I drink Michelob Ultra because I’m a beer kinda girl

#11

Summertime: Gordon’s Gin ($10/fifth) on the Rocks - economical be sure to let the ice melt a little. Blue Sapphire (~$30) and Hendrick’s (~$40) on special occasion.
Bacardi silver ($12) and lime soda (Waterloo is great)
Dry white wine: Torrontes, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay

Fall-Spring: Whiskey with water: Tullamore Dew or Jameson Irish Whiskey ($30), Evan Williams ($15), Four Roses Small Batch ($30) or Single Barrel ($40) I’ve had a few good ryes as well.
Dry red wine: Cabernet, Syrah, Malbec

I’m not a vodka fan. I do miss margaritas and craft beer sometimes.

I mostly drink wine. And mostly I have a glass every evening before dinner. It doesn’t kick me out of ketosis and it doesn’t stall my weight loss. But it’s always just one. I also have an occasional scotch, but that would be instead of the wine, not in addition to it. I don’t have a particularly deranged metabolism though. Just your standard 50 yr old woman’s metabolism. Lately, I’ve been pushing carbs up a few grams a day to see where ketosis breaks off. So far I’ve got to 45g and I’m still gold; hovering around 4 mmol. So I may have more wiggle room on alcohol than some others.

Red wine, occasional craft beer, occasional very good scotch. I’m four months keto, and don’t agonize over the odd carb. Fairly flat belly leads me on a daily five mile walk.

Our favorite bourbon for the $$ is Jim Beam Black or Jim Beam Devil’s Cut. They taste very similar. I don’t know what a fifth costs because we buy the big bottle. $42 here in KY where it’s produced.

Bourbon and Whisky. Rotate what my “fav” is pretty frequently.

This is one of the benefits of being a recovered alcoholic.

Thanks all for your opinions

(Katie the Quiche Scoffing Stick Ninja ) #18

Big Head Beer, an australian no carb beer.

(Bill Bates) #19

Bud Select 55. Not much flavor but a nice break from water and only 1.8g carbs, the lowest of any beer. I will also have a few glasses of chardonnay when I know I can keep total carbs under 25.

(Jane) #20

Flor de Cana rum and diet coke.

Dry red wine.

Summertime - Gin and Tonic (using Diet Tonic)
