What alcohol you drink?

(Kate ) #21

Bourbon lovers, unite!

I’m surprised I don’t see much vodka or tequila mentioned! These two have never spiked my blood sugars or kicked me out of kitosis as long as I drink with la criox…one of my faves is pineapple vodka with coconut la criox (takes me back to Cabo every time) or Crop harvest earth organic cucumber vodka. Funny thing is I can take multiple shots of tequila and it doesn’t effect me much (ask my husband…it amazes him)…

I’m also someone who can tolerate a fair amount of tequila. Have never been hung over after drinking it. Vodka, OTOH, is another story. It is THE DEVIL for me and to be avoided at all costs!

Crown Royal Black on the rocks.

The best tasting whiskey ever made and zero carbs.

So will drinking excessive alcohol like a bunch of vodka lol kick you out of ketosis? I don’t drink often but when ido I liketo get real drunk lol. I know bad life choice but that being said. Will it stop ketosis.

(Stephanie ) #26

Michelob ultra and corona premier… Love beer

(Roy D Rushing Jr ) #27

I discovered that most flavored vodkas that were 35% of higher alcohol content are zero carb, so I’ve taken to mixing those with club soda for a fizzy zero carb drink.

Otherwise I just drink a low carb beer like Michelob and limit my intake according to however many carbs I’ve eaten that day.

From everything I’ve read, with things like vodka (no mix, really no carbohydrates to speak of), you normally have considerable room to drink without stopping ketosis. However - the body is going to deal with the alcohol right away, and so it stops burning fat (which would otherwise often be what stops ketosis).

ā€œ1 or 2ā€ isn’t enough for me, either - I’d rather just cross off one day as a total loss and not worry about anything.

ya I think im just gunna chalk up a day or 2 a month, sometimes its not at all but I gotta be able to live a little. I really do want this to be a change of life and not just a fad but I need to have fun too lol

(Doug) #30

Yeah… It would be better for me, overall, to remain consistent, but I’ve never been able to go more than a month. Kudos to those who never stray or don’t go far, to those who really only do have a couple drinks at the most.

My real answer to ā€˜What alcohol you drink?’ is ā€œWhat ever’s aroundā€¦ā€

I’m not anti drinking, I’m a former lush but don’t kid yourself, not necessary. With THAT said, I usually do Rum/Coke Zero or if a GOOD Rum is available that by itself. Scotch when I’m in the mood.

(Irene ) #32

I guess if you drink any form of alcohol in excess it will kick you out of ketosis but vodka (the good quality & not potato)! Has never kicked me out or spiked my blood sugars (no carbs) I’m diabetic so im extreamly careful with my choices. the purest I’ve had so far is ā€œCropā€ harvest earth organic. It comes in cucumber, tomatoe, lime, & regular…And Always choose the best clear tequilas!

(chad) #33

O please keto gods please tell me there is another mixer besides club soda and diet tonic that I can use. I bought some goose and tried to mix it with both:face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting: so horrible. Please help.

#34

Try squeezes of lime and lemon in it as well. I was never a vodka drinker but this helped in a huge way

(Hoby Bradfield) #35

Blanton s, though I have developed a taste for Sexton’s Irish Whisky…

Costco Kirkland brand liquor is great for saving money: Gin, Vodka, Canadian Whiskey, Cognac, etc. Their wine is inexpensive too. I look for 90’s rated under $15. No need to be a member to buy alcohol there in most states.

(Carissa JB) #37

When I dare to indulge it will be vodka and club soda with a twist of limešŸø

(Candace) #38

Dry wine, bourbon, scotch is my favorite, but I like the good stuff, so that doesn’t happen too often

Before I started this Keto journey (5weeks ago) I was drinking cider every day. I haven’t had any alcohol in the last 5 weeks and I am surprised at my weight loss. I thought I would lose loads by cutting out cider but I have only lost 8lbs (5lbs were in week one). I hope to wait until Christmas time before I indulge in alcohol and plan to drink Gin and Slimline Tonic or Spiced Rum and Diet Coke. Is it just taking time for my system to repair itself from the damage of all that sugar in cider…?

(Laurie) #40

Why necessary? Do you mean socially necessary? I haven’t had a drink at a social event for 45 years, except one time when nothing was offered except wine and I was very thirsty. I won’t let that happen again (always carry water, flavored sparkling water, or diet pop–preferably Zevia).
