Weight is at stand still

#1

So I started out at 126 lbs I’m 5”5. In the first week of carnivore diet I got down to 120 lbs, with weight fluctuations between 120-124 depending where I’m at with my female cycle. I’ve been in ketosis for two months and started to add some keto foods into my diet not a lot of stuff just jalepenos, mushrooms one time…and I ate a keto donut and some brownies recently. I wanted to get down to 115 but seems like I’m steady for the last two months at what I’m at now. Apparently all I have lost is water weight. Is it possible not to lose fat if I’m at my ideal weigh and my body just won’t let me lose it? I was hoping to lose a little more but scale hasn’t budged past 120 in a while.

You might have to ditch artificial sweeteners. They can impede weight loss because they still trigger insulin release in some people.

You may need to be happy with where you’re at. You are BMI right now is 20 and if you go down to 115 your BMI would go down to 19. Both are in the normal weight category. 18.5 and under is considered underweight. Your weight loss is definitely going to slow down once you get to a normal weight or the lower end of normal weight. You could try weights to change your body composition a little bit. That could even cause you to gain a couple of pounds but it would be a couple of pounds of muscle which might look better than just losing more weight as you may lose muscle. Just something to think about

Are stress and sleep in good places?
Could you be over-exercising (a stress)?

Yes, your body might be holding at 120 because it thinks - given your stress, sleep and exercise patterns - that it needs to keep the amount of fat you have at that weight around for survival.

I second that! Even if it means pure scale gain - it is likely that several extra pounds of muscle will make you look a lot better this summer. Too low and you risk flab - better to be firmly filled out than to have the extra triceps area wave when you just want to wave your hand. The other good thing about this tactic is that you have much more control over the outcome.

Everyone will be different. That being said I’m able to keep losing fat at a fairly fast speed at 5’5 and 106 pounds if I tighten the screws enough on what and when I eat.

Carnivore + mostly OMAD
Basic keto+ mostly OMAD+no dairy

The biggest thing for me is actually being strict about OMAD. One hour eating. I do break OMAD for a second meal once or twice a week if I’m hungry, but I’m rarely hungry anymore.

Yea I think working out would help, shoot I don’t mind weighing even 130 if I could get into better shape, I’m skinny but not toned. I’ve seen girls weigh more then me with smaller waists so I agree weight isn’t important. I definitely have a lot of stress in my life , I’m the mom of 5 small boys haha so yea I’m usually super busy and by the end of the day I am exhausted and not thinking of working out, I do stay up late because that’s the only “me time” I get. My husband started out at like 5”9 210 lbs and is about 175 lbs now since being on a carnivore diet, he lost so much weight, I just thought I would lose more then I have which like I said is only water weight. My IBS symptoms are much better but I still deal with them they just aren’t as bad. I suppose at this point with no weight loss, That I may be at my ideal weight and I need to start working out if I want to see real body changes.

Oh yea and I’m wondering when does fat adaption occur? Is it possible I’m not fat adapted yet? I have been doing carnivore for two months. Just recently I added a few keto foods into my diet. I have been in ketosis the whole time so curious how long does fat adapted take? Should I be fat adapted by now at two months?

:scream::scream::scream:

As for fat adaptation, I think it started really taking off for me at 6 weeks. I’ve read some people can take months, though, depending on where they start metabolically. I understand about not wanting to work out after a physically demanding day. Have you considered yoga? I love it and besides the flexability it gives (and keeps my back happy) there are moves that can really help with toning. Best part, you can do it braless in your pj’s before bed, during your “you” time.

so, you have to prioritize your health above all. Period - end of discussion.

I think you’re being the best “you” that you can. Five boys…WOW! Years of fun ahead when they’re teenagers. It sounds like you’re on track, 5 lbs is a fairly trivial amount and those last few are stubborn. Your body is running off fats and I believe you are fat adapted. Things take time and it sounds like you’ve had good progress for 2 months in. You had little weight to loose going in. Biologically we need some body fat, women more than men. And you’re in a very healthy weight for your size and apparent age. Working on body recomposition is what I need and that might be the best course for you too. Gotta be able to keep up with the boys. Best success to you @Lbomb :cowboy_hat_face:

Yea I agree I’m feeling good physically so I guess that’s the main point, wouldn’t mind being a bit more fit but the main thing is I’m not suffering so terribly from IBS anymore, that’s reason enough for me to stay on this diet. I tried so many things to help my IBS and so far this seems to be the best. I sure hope by now I’m fat adapted that would be great. I’ll tell you what though that first week was hell, I almost caved in the keto flue was so bad, I’m glad I didn’t though and thanks for feedback! Yes five boys is pretty awesome…they keep me busy, and drive me insane sometimes too lol.

I remember and I am really glad you stuck with it and stayed here. :cowboy_hat_face:

120lbs at 5’5" is perfect! Let it be!

I’m 5’3", and have always thought of my ideal skinny weight as 120 lbs. Heavy bones run in my family… If I were to aim for fit, that ideal weight should be much higher.

There’s this odd idea fliating around regarding body fat, like you shouldn’t really have it. But a healthy fat storage will help you through a traumatic event much better than being skinny. Your figure should decide what’s right for you, not your weight.
