Weight Gain after Week 3 yikes!

I lost 12 lbs of water weight weeks 1-2. Then week 3-4 and I gain a pound or two back! I have been fasting since I started for 14-17 hours a day! And I eat 1200-1275 calories a day. I count and track everything! Fats and protein and carbs! A little low on fats by 20-40 grams some days but the rest matches up!

I am in the deep red of keto on my keto strips second to top red color. Never go over 20-25 carbs a day!

I got a cortisone shot in my ankle last week and have been sedentary. They also put me on meloxicam and tramadol which i am only taking for a week to two after my shot then not taking anymore! I have ankle issues I’m trying to resolve which is why I’m on keto bc I used to be very active before my injury and I was thin while I ate moderately but didn’t restrict myself from a lot of foods! Not being active though has affected my metabolism and made me try keto.

Am I too strict? Are my calories too low? I’m also very bloated and gassy lately? Do I need electrolytes and more salt? More veggies and protein?

An average day is my coffee to break the fast (keto friendly but artificial sugar but I don’t take much of this aside from my coffee in the am daily) then two eggs for brunch with a small sausage patty or no meat and 1/4 cup of cheese then I eat a few veggies for a snack w some ranch or a Trader Joe’s flatbread w 6 grams of carbs w cream cheese or olive spread and then I have a burger w cheese and salad for dinner or 5 chicken wings and cabbage with a small amount of dark chocolate for a snack after dinner. I stop eating at 6-6:30 daily. That’s a pretty typical day for me.

I feel so bloated and constipated. I’m positive I’m in a deep state of Keto but I don’t know why I feel so puffy and bloated in my stomach when I eat so little and I’m never hungry enough to eat much! Please help Bc I’m desperate to see the scale move and my clothing to be baggy! I just want to look and feel good and know I’m taking great care of myself! Thoughts? Mct oil? More calories? Fasting too much?

Hey I’m not an expert but just form research I read a lot of people will hold or gain then suddenly another woosh of weight loss. The drugs and painkillers will def be causing w bit of havoc with hormones and fat/ water retention. And the tranquil etc is probably causing you to be blocked up. So I would seriously up your water intake and maybe eat small portions throughout the day. Maybe even try drinking a table spoon of linseed oil in the morning to get everything flowing or perhaps a one day water fast of just pure liquid. It seems you’ve had such. Good progress so don’t worry. Maybe try eating less processed food? So organic chicken breast with lots of veggies or a goat cheese salad with fresh prawns. The chicken wings and packaged trader joes stuff may be causing you to bloat. Also a huge tip that I adhere to for bloating is chew everhthing 40 times. If you’re not masticating your food and it’s protein it can purtyfy in your gut and release the gases that cause constipation and bloating. Swap out for some nice bone broth and hope made veggie soups for a week and give your self patience you’re in the right direction. Good luck!

Also cabbage is super bloating and eating chocolate after wards means the sugar will be sitting on top and mixing around. Maybe look into food combining. Good luck! Keep me up to date you got this

I had weight gain in week 3 and early week 4 after losing initially. It is PERFECTLY NORMAL

I lost that gain and more in weeks 5 and 6.

Your body is adjusting to (and resisting) the changes. It takes time to adjust.

I’m sure you know it, but I’ll throw in my thoughts. In 2011 I was in a crushing accident at my job (crushed by a tree). Lots of broken bones\damage inside. They put me on tramadol while the bones healed up as I refused to take percocets. The tramadol wreaked havoc on my guts, all the symptoms you are mentioning. I’m not saying disregard doctors orders and don’t take you meds, but know that when they are done you may bounce back. It is a pain killer, so if you can stomach it (no pun intended) you can always stop it yourself, it’s not like an antibiotic when you should run the full the course.

When I had my gut problems hit their worst i threw the pills in the garbage and rode out the rest of my injury pill-free. I’m not trying to sound sanctimonious (if that’s the right word?), it’s just what I did :).

Take care and hopefully things work out!

I take one a day at night. I will try and discontinue i eventually but they think I have scar tissue that is impingement in my ankle and pinched each time I walk since my sprain never healed properly. My dog can slightly jump on me and I’m limping or running for an ice pack. I can only wear gym shoes or sketchers sadly and I’m only in my thirties. Really hoping to get it resolved so I can do normal things like walk around Europe or wear a dress with high heels instead of Nikes! I’m sorry to hear about your injury. And very happy you have overcome it. Love hearing about people getting better and overcoming their struggles. It gives me hope. Thanks for your positivity.
