I am 61 years old and have been trying keto for 4 months. Until 2 weeks ago I’ve only lost 6 pounds. I am trying to do a no scale month. I have started intermittent fasting. I can’t remember the book I’m following but he gives quizzes after every chapter. He recommends a 18 6 fast I have been trying I feel lighter. But I have to tell you I haven’t lost the big weight everybody is talking about. But I haven’t quit. My victory is that I haven’t gained more. And I can settle for that at this time. I do like this group and hope to learn from you all. Thank you for listening.

I have been and the measurements are even more dissapointing. I just have to accept I have a very slow metabolism… My husband has been keto with me and has lost 5 pounds in the last week. So I know this works just harder for me.
IK,R? It’s so aggravating when you watch the weight seemingly fall off him with no effort, while you fight with all you have to see a loss. Which is why We Vintage Ladies need to stick together!
PS I’ve been keto since May and slowly creeping down. You will find your own “N=1,” as we call it - your personal formula for success. I am so happy to have found a way to lose weight where I no longer have to starve myself!! [HAPPY DANCE]
I know exactly what you mean! I have lost 100 pounds before. Kept it off for about 10 years. And what I did basically could have been called buleima (don’t know if it spelled right) I basicly excersized in stead of throwing up. I would excersizes after I got up in the morning, work at a very active job for 10+hrs per day and come home and walk 2 hrs 7 days a week. And then eat a very small low fat high carb meal. And you get afraid. Afraid to stop exersizing afraid to eat… Although I’m not get to g the results that I’m wanting I feel better and there have been changes. Healing from the inside?

IF? EF?? OMAD? - Mostly IF. I did a longer fast when I first started and it was fine but can’t seem to do longer than 18 hours or so now.
Biggest challenge - Getting people to stop commenting about how you need to consume carbs for the glucose. Pulling out gluconeogenesis helps but they just look at me like I’ve got three heads
Health issues- cholesterol, blood pressure.
Biggest NSV - BP 110/70, dropped a pant size and having to change the hooks I use on my bra! Lost an inch in the waist and 1.25 inches under bustline.

I’m not losing any weight with this WOE. I’m going on 6 months now. I’ve tried fasts, changing macros, adding exercise… I’m 56, trying to lose 25 lbs. I originally lost 2 inches with IF around my waist but gained 1 back. Sure my blood glucose is lower and I don’t crave sweets but I started this for weight loss. I’m miserable.
@Lisa_Stevens , you’re in the right place to fix this. I suggest you go through, read the “How-To” & some Newbie posts about no/low weight loss and see what sounds similar to your situation, and what is suggested. If nothing quite fits, then start a new topic & post your info (age, ht, wt, time on keto, “lazy” (<20 carbs, not counting calories) or strict (logging macros in a tracker), other health issues, typical day’s food intake and ask for suggestions. We’re nothing if not supportive in this WOE. And WELCOME to VLKC!
Thank you for your great posts and encouragement! Was keto for 3.5 months and lost 38 pounds. Been off keto (except for a few days to a week) since about Thanksgiving 2017. Gained about 4 lbs back. I am a terrible sugar addict and love specific alcoholic drinks. When strict keto I felt amazing and was easily able to do a 22 hour fast. Really struggling with feeling lousy, bloated, low energy and am very irritable. Yes, I am whining but feeling out of control with food is very stressful for me and wanted to express gratitude that I found this group and forum. I am going to try the Adkins fast to see if I can cut my cravings as fast as I can and deplete the glycogen stores. Perhaps I’ll be able to IF sooner? Btw IF success was mind blowing! Autophagy, clearer thinking and low food bill! Ok, ok, ok…I think I may have got this! building myself up to tackle this carb overload just by writing to you all! I hope I am back regularly to keep myself accountable and motivated. I am a few weeks from 57 and have 60 pounds more to lose. I think you meant “EF” there - your going 22 hours without eating is a good example of IF (intermittent vs extended), over 24 hours is what’s considered extended, and I don’t think autophagy kicks in until about 48 hours IIRC.
PS I’m jealous of you living in Hawaii! Now stay away from those malasadas!
Welcome! You are doing well!. My weight loss has really slowed too. Most folks suggest changing it up with your macros, food group removal like cheese, or IF,EF, OMAD. I am OMAD for Lent.
Thanks for your reply but I’ve stuck to the rules, used a tracker and tried adjustments that others have found helpful. I’m going on 6 months now and though keto has improved my health in other ways, I’m actually a healthy person. My inability to lose weight started with menopause so I fell into the story out there that this will work. I weighed 155 at the start and now I’m 10 lbs heavier. Thanks all for your help but I think I’m going to need professional help. Signing off.
