Vintage Ladies Keto Klub

(Suzanne Le Bon) #21

Hi Marie I am in Montreal  I am glad to find an Old Ladies Keto Klub. I am down 18lbs in 3 months and VERY excited. My goal is to kick the BP pills and drop another 60. I am going to try that oopsie bread. THX for the contributions - they are so helpful and encouraging.

Hi Suzanne, Haven’t been back for a while. Montreal is still in my heart.
Nice to meet you.
Marie

Anyone have struggles with soybean oil in mayo?

Welcome Marie! Hi neighbor! I’m in the Bronx!
I don’t think there is a difference. Brenda Zorn shares her monthly fasting schedule here on the forum and invites others to join her and post as a away to support each other. She also has a fabulous ketoaide recipe posted to keep electrolytes balanced. How Zorn fast helped me, was following the thread for several months, jumping in once in awhile, dropping out until this last month when it “took”. Having the zornfast thread gave me a place to check in, be supported, read others progress, etc.

Hi Becky, Oh great ! I haven’t done an extended fast since June…think it’s time.
Thanks,
Marie

Thanks Becky!!
I searched ketoade in this site and found the recipe. Thanks. Have been eating chocolate for the magnesium. Who knew you could get magnesium citrate.

I have a brunch today. I’ll bring a quiche. For me I scape out the filling. All else is keto.

Last night I hosted a holiday potluck and it went well, but not without its temptations.
I made a chicken thigh coconut curry that was hugely popular- so tasty and high fat of course everyone loved it! And I stuck to the cheese and Boursin on celery, and green salad. For dessert while everyone ate pumpkin pie I ate a small bowl of whipped cream that I sweetened with Xylitol. And I treated myself to a couple of small glasses of Prosecco, because everyone brought a bottle, knowing that I like it. I now have a stock of Prosecco for the whole holiday season…

I ended up eating more calories than I had planned for the day, so this morning I am going to IF until afternoon or maybe dinner.
I was happy that because everyone else was busy eating and there was so much conversation, no one commented on what I was or wasn’t eating. It really didn’t matter, and I really wasn’t interested in all of the crackers and shortbread cookies. Although I have to say that when I opened the fridge this morning the pumpkin pie was at eye level, and for a moment I was pretty tempted to have a slice… I quickly shut the fridge door.

Ha ha ha ha Jo, I feel your pain! I sat across from a flouress chocolate torte for an evening at a conference. They had preset the table with dessert to save serving time a not interrupt the presentation. I deserve a medal!

Becky, That’s awesome! How long was your breakthru fast? Also, do you stick to one meal a day all the time now?
Thanks

Just catching up on this thread and so inspired by you all.

I stared keto about a year and a half, I think. Have been doing it very casually, not counting anything. Dropped 15 pounds without noticing in the first year but struggling now. Love my HWC in coffee every day! I think I find myself eating out of bordom, mostly at work, and mostly nuts - I keep a good supply in my desk and carry them with me as well.

Thoughts and advice on doing a fast. How long is a good starting fast? Do you give up your coffee too? How about bone broth?

Thank you all!

Oh yeah, I am in Atlanta – so anyone else around here?

VI began with an “accidental” fast. I was trying to increase my water intake. So i made a deal with myself to postpone putting anything into my mouth until I had drank my 30oz of water and pinch of sea salt. As a result, I skipped breakfast and coffee, then lunch as I wasn’t really hungry, drinking another dose of water and pinch of seasalt. By then it was so late in the day and I was so surprised that I still wasn’t really hungry and finished another dose of water before bed. I was excited to realize that, I just fasted for 24 hours!

Then I wondered if I could do another 24 hours, knowing there was a meal I was looking forward to with a friend. I made a gallon of Brenda Zorn’s ketoiaide for 2 servings a day.

I did fast for 41 hours, ate a wonderful Keto meal with a friend and went right back to fasting with the Zornfast. Another 24 hour, Birthday celebration Keto meal and ate throughout the following day, all Keto.

I realized that water satisfied my thirst in the morning better then coffee, that I wasn’t missing dairy or diet sodas and it was easier to go to work without stopping for coffee or packing a lunch, as long as I had my water, sea salt and ketoaide.

I am a food addict and do use food to manage my emotions, so I do have a supply of Keto meals in my desk in case of emergency. But fasting has taken on its own momentum and I eat one meal a day for several days in a row, and if I have an engagement or begin to feel excessive hunger, I eat. At least one day a week, I eat as I please (Keto, no dairy, no diet soda, no treats).

Fasting truly interrupted my “grazing” on whatever was around. Understanding that my body CANNOT burn fat if my insulin is spiked with any food, made me push whatever I wanted to munch on to my meal time.

Rubbing my belly, smiling thinking of how my belly fat is being eaten up as long as I’m not eating, even as I have the choice to eat whenever, just at ONE time. I have only had BP coffee on the 1 or 2 eating days each week. Yay, water, sea salt and ketoaide.

I am new today!! I have Hadhimoto’s and Addison’s. I am 47 and peri menopausal. I have 2 kids under 10. Lately I have no desire to do anything or socialise. I can’t sleep at night but sleep during the afternoon. My weight is the highest ever. I am also unemployed and feeling very, very unsure of our future. I live in Greece and Greek is my 2nd language. And they don’t hire anyone over 30. My husband is also unemployed. So I am feeling very scared and very confused on how to get a grip. I need to get back to me for me and my girls. The rest I will sèe.

Welcome. I understand wanting to be healthy for your children. How long have you been in ketosis, or are you currently considering the plan?
