Vaccinations and extended fasting

#1

Hello! I can’t find anything on this topic, and hope someone knows the answer.

I was just vaccinated in preparation for going on vacation (Hepatitis, Cholera, and Typhoid prevention). I am concerned that extended fasting might interfere with the efficacy of the vaccines. I seem to recall hearing that the body gets rid of all our immune cells during an extended fast, then promptly replaces them upon refeeding.

I want to be sure my immune system can appropriately deal with these vaccines. I was planning a five day fast this week. Perhaps I should I postpone it?

Thanks in advance for your advice,

Janet

I am not a scientist in any way but it seems to me if you are concerned, then do the fast at another time. Maybe go for some other change instead-keep the body guessing.

Yes, better safe than sorry, for sure. I am curious about what the science suggests in this regard. If anyone knows, please do weigh in. Thanks!
