yes I understand but the ā€˜challenge’ is for new carnivores and since some older ones like us it is an easier situation, we all just challenge ourselves to do our best to hold plan at all times and with the more newer zc people, they can evaluate their new healthy benefits

I so get what ya said it being normal, it is for me too cause now I truly can’t go backwards…I don’t wanna LOL

oh yum, I can imagine it…hope you don’t have more trouble with pics, you got some good ones happening!!

and that is the best ending to any meal right? :sunny:

So I researched up the Twelves Days of Christmas and got 2 meanings…one is it starts Dec 25 and goes to Jan. 5. Known as Twelvetide, and ending on Jan. 5 as Epiphany Eve. The other is it starts Dec 13 and runs to Dec 25 being a 12 day countdown. Very interesting.

food yesterday was

1 lb NY strip steak
1 lb of jumbo shrimp
can of tuna
tin of sardines
some leftover chicken
few slices salami

Ate kinda early and then carnivore nibbled the rest of the evening.

All good in my zc world. Just doing my thing  No complaints or wandering thoughts about my eating plan. All just cruising along!

On the FIRST day of Carnivormas
My true love fed to me
A rib eye steak
And 7 fat prawns

#305

yum, you and me, surf and turf people

I saw this big bag of frozen Black Tiger Prawns and they were absolute monsters…omgosh I wanted it so bad but it was $22.99 for the bag and I just didn’t have it in me to pay that much for them but man, they are on my mind big time. So big! So meaty. Now I want the darn things again :astonished::heart_eyes: ugh…maybe a Karen Christmas present to herself :eyes:

My first batch of homemade soap: beef tallow, coconut oil, and olive oil. I have to wait 4-6 weeks for it to cure before we try it.

It’s fun to make. I’m a little worried we are going to get overrun with soap as I try different recipes.

Only if you let it?

(Daisy) #309

I have a bit more than trepidation… they will have to literally force inject me because there is zero chance of me willingly getting it…

Alvaro gets his vaccination in the hospital, I go with him except in the end when I do some shopping. I always enjoyed pork chuck so I buy some. And salmon is on sale and Alvaro wanted and I planned it anyway. More variety.
I reached the point where I can’t avoid carnivore(-ish) anymore, my woe is a chaos without it, I don’t know why I can’t set and respect rules normally but carni is so much easier and now I need as low-carb as possible anyway. It’s just this meat aversion (and I don’t really want dairy or eggs either) but I will try a bit harder. I eat about 1 pound meat per week lately, barely anything and very much enjoy that it’s not more, I waited patiently to pass this feeling but now I will just make a meaty dish and eggy ones too and eat as much as possible. It can’t be hard for the hungry me. I never wait for any hunger as usual (I plan but I am just not that type who can do it except if I focus on it extremely much but it’s tiring) and it doesn’t help. It may sound so whiny and it isn’t, I am sure I can change things now, I had my little break from meat and want to feel better. So I am looking forward to this week.

I never had this problem before but now we are here. In December. Bad timing.

And so I fail the 12 day of carnivore challenge.

Lunch:

Grounded pork and beef mix, egg, cheese and mushroom.

#313

and in truth what did those mushrooms give ya that was so important :heart_eyes_cat::crazy_face:

I always think of my food like that, what would XYZ put in it truly mean to me and the answer is usually nothing

LOL just joking :upside_down_face: looks darn delish tho!

#314

food yesterday was

taylor ham slices
2 cheeseburger patties
2.5 chicken breasts
can of tuna

not good at all for me, woke up starving. Only like 8:30am here but in just a bit I am frying up a 1 lb. ribeye steak and ripping into that puppy!

yea, me not shy :smiling_imp:

vacation put me off my normal menu with starting my day with a big old steak…back to extreme basics for this ol’ gal right now.

All going very well on plan. Ticking off Dec in good form.

@Shinita

One pound of meat per week?

(Edith) #316

If you are only eating a pound ( 1/2 kilo approx) of meat per week, what else are you eating?

I ate plants, of course. I can’t do carni with this little meat, theoretically possible but not nice so I fall off the wagon very quickly. I don’t remember the beginning of my December, I know it wasn’t as bad as my latest days but I stopped carnivore very early after my November was done. But now I am back, finally.
But I can do carnivore with surprisingly little meat. Until very recently, I ate little meat on my short but several carnivore periods for multiple reasons. Often less than what I actually wished. I remember when I wished for 0.25 pounds a day but I was much lower, that was somewhat stressful. The stubborn me can still do it, I eat eggs and dairy and well-chosen flavorful meat can keep my menu from being super boring (no matter how versatile eggs are, they get boring, even with dairy). It’s doable, many eggs a day, lots of various dairy, little but nice meat. But it’s not good enough. November was cool (especially the second part), I just couldn’t handle all that meat afterwards. Maybe it’s not the amount of meat or not only that but eating the same (not my absolute fav though nice) meats for 11 days while not having appetite - without the usual amount of eggs. Who knows? It doesn’t matter, I keep changing and trying to find my sweet spot.

So I did my shopping. No salmon, people bought it all. I run out of smoked pork and I need variety so I bought bacon (not carnivore, I never will buy it again but I am desperate at this point. very tiny sugar but I hate added sugar in my meat products. in everything but especially in my meat products where they don’t do anything even remotely positive, in the contrary. but it’s tiny so I am not sure I feel it). Herring (in tomato sauce but it’s that or sunflower oil, it’s for emergencies when I am bored with everything else and I eat that or something very carby). Snack sausage. Pork chuck. Various cheeses.
I need every help I can get… We start to run out of eggs. But I am very very very stubborn and when I will be willing to walk 2 hours, I will have eggs again. I need sunshine for that (we had some today!).

I had a tiny pre-meal after 3pm and a coffee for my headache (I am an optimist. I took a pill later). Well, two. The supermarket was a crowdy nuthouse (and no salmon… :frowning: ), the bus station was extremely noisy… Alvaro got flu vaccine, bought another and ordered another… He handled today well but we had someone to help to get to the bus. And back from it too.

There are fish sales nearby  Some fattier, nicer or exciting (as we never tried it… northern pike, it seems its the English name) fish for the same price as salmon on sale… Nope. Some more common, less perfect fish for very cheap (a fragment of the supermarket price)… I don’t know, I am not into it. I want a fish soup at some point but I can get way better meat with that money. Fish is just some light thing and I am choosy, I like only the fatty, expensive ones. And I still would rather eat pork chuck…
Whatever, it’s nice to know there is such an option. Many people like fish for Christmas so there are such sales before.

I roast the pork chuck soon, let’s see if my annoying meat aversion covers my favorite. Hopefully not. I don’t feel any desire towards it but having it in front of me has better chances.
I expect this problem disappear in the near future. It’s not fun.

I don’t know if I mentioned it as I had an abandoned comment too but I had 0.64 pounds meat a day on November (the off days don’t count). And it was raised in the beginning of December while I barely had eggs. The latter didn’t work, November was nice but who knows what would happen longer term. We will see. January is the perfect carnivore month for me (and I have good chances until June), even if I add some tiny amount of plants here and there or even if I go low-carb for single days, I can draw some conclusions (then I go and change, of course so they won’t be valid anymore, life is like that). November wasn’t proper enough for that and my meat was mostly smoked pork in the first 2 weeks (with some liver). January is bound to be much better. We will have a whole smallish piglet too from the pig farm! How awesome is that? I have no idea as I never had that before but I expect something wonderful. I will eat meat carefully in December to properly appreciate the arrival of our piglet.

Mushrooms give fun, I guess, variety. And cause zero problems to me. Even so, I made only 2 small mushroom stews in the last several weeks when I collected a huge amount of mushroom. And I didn’t eat them only myself. I wait patiently for the desire towards them to arrive, this far I am perfectly happy with picking and canning them (and making lots of photos, of course). I only used stew to add variety but I always had to stop eating after a few bites… It’s just like the vegetables. I barely ate any vegetables in the last year (and only one vegetable dish was tempting) so I don’t expect them to have a comeback. One can never know, though.

I am confused. But if what you are doing is achieving your goals, Mazel Tov!

(Karen) #319

@polly you maybe right and I may be wrong. I thought it was 5/6 people in the house at one time. It won’t effect me much as u am working Xmas day so will be around loads of peeps and boxing day just spending it with my daughter and her hubby. I feel for all those who will miss out on seeing their family.

(Vic) #320

Thnx.

Lamb with escagot on the side, both cooked with garlic and salt.

It was weirdly delicious
