Traditional Keto Recipes

KETO recipes often seem to be made up or a lot of effort but there are many dishes that can qualify as keto.

I thought we should start up a thread to show that keto food is not so strange.

The challenge here is to post a recipe on this comment but it needs to meet these rules:

  1. It is not to be a made up keto recipe. It must be traditional.
  2. You must post the link in a comment from a non kerto/ non low carb site
  3. It can have non-keto ingredient if that ingredient can be omitted without significantly altering the dish. Eg a small amount of sugar You need to state what to omit.
  4. You must have cooked the recipe you post.
  5. If it is to be eaten with a carb (eg rice) you need to state what it should be eaten with instead (eg cauliflower rice).

And GO!

No modifications needed. This was so good.

Crack Chicken

No omissions needed. Sometimes I add some spinach.
Serve over cauliflower rice if you feel it needs it. I just eat it with a fork.

You can sub pork rind dust/parm mixture for bread crumbs, just add more cheese on top, or use just parmesan instead.

How about good old bolognese served with zoodles (zucchini noodles) instead of pasta

This one with chicken livers for extra nutritional density.

To lower the carbs, replace the milk with cream in the sauce.

Duck Confit - a French Classic indeed!

How about good old moussaka?

Replace the flour in the sauce with glucomannan or vegetable gum or cream cheese or use heavy cream.

Haven’t made this one but Ted Naiman has. From one of his tweets.

I made moussaka the other week and my husband said it was one of his favorites that I have made so far.

Mcebis, this recipe was called to mind by the Korean one you posted. It was given me by a Mexican woman, who did not care for raw fish.

Canned Tuna Ceviche

2 small cans tuna fish, undrained
2 tomatoes
1 small onion
1 small carrot
1/2 bunch cilantro
Juice of 2 lemons
Salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon dry flake oregano
1fresh chile, Serrano type (optional)

Dice vegetables into small pieces of uniform size; cut the chile into very tiny pieces. Blend all ingredients, allow to stand at least 3 hours. Serve with keto chips.

I started this thread because people think keto is strange and hard to cook.

Eggplant is one of the lowest carb vegetables (fruits).

I looked at the Shirred Eggs recipe. I can’t see myself cracking 2 eggs in 2 separate containers, then pouring them at the same time into the ramekin, just so they lay side by side. Seriously, why dirty two extra cups when you can just crack each egg side by side into the ramekin. Do they think it’s magic for these two eggs to land in the ramekin at the same time? Too funny!

Is the “Device” supposed to read “Ceviche”, instead?

Think of it as a dexterity/IQ test, first thing in the morning, as you rolled out of bed, and not had your coffee yet.

Yes, yes, ceviche. Blasted spell check thinks it’s so smart. Edited.
