Going to Trader Joe’s tonight which is a rare occurrence for me…what keto staples or rare gems do you buy at TJs? So far I have cauliflower rice, coconut oil spray, and nuts on my list. Any other thoughts?
Trader Joe's shopping list

Heavy whipping cream
Sliced roast chicken and turkey
Macadamia nuts
Zucchini
Eggs
Parmesan reggiano Cheese
I just went yesterday.
I’m in long-term weight maintenance so I eat a few more vegetables than a lot of people in the group. Net carbs are still down between 20 and 30.
Grass fed beef refrigerated
Grass fed beef patties from the freezer section in a box
Chicken thighs in the refrigerator section
Eggs if I’m not going to Costco
Bags of kale so I can sauté portions
Bag of Romain lettuce
Bag of shredded cabbage or broccoli slaw to sauté
Garlic
Onions or green onions
Avocados
Jar of coconut oil for sauté
Tins of smoked oysters
Tinsof sardines in olive oil
Pink Himalayan salt and garlic sea salt
Other spices like tumeric & cumin
85% chocolate
Other items for my non-Keto, dairy eating teenager.
I’ve found that coconut oil spray (from Aldi) is fat free and scorches easy so it’s better to just use a touch of normal coconut oil… being fat free is a waste…
Liquid stevia
Good selection of cheese
Pepperoni
Kerry Gold butter
Kalamata olives
chia seeds
flax seeds
almond flour
nuts, good selection of varieties
canned tuna and salmon
frozen seafood
Bacon! Don’t forget the bacon! I buy their leftover bacon bits & pieces religiously. Sooo good!
Just throwing this out there for you if you want to save some money… Rice a head of cauliflower in a blender with water and then strain the water off. It’s cheap and does just as good of a job. I let them drain a bit, put servings in a ziplock and freeze them flat and then stand them up. Pop them in a bowl and nuke them for 6 minutes or drop it straight into a frying pan and go.
Applewood smoked uncured bacon x 10. I’m not kidding – we have to drive over 200 miles to the closest TJ’s.
Havarti cheese (really creamy)
Various other meats and cheeses
Parsnip chips
Nuts
Olives
Jalapeno hot sauce
Coconut Milk
Avocado Oil
Coconut Oil
Check around – they always have something new
Trader Joe’s has a powdered stevia cut with lactose to soften the aftertaste and give it more bulk. I’m guessing it has 1 - 1.5 grams of carbs per teaspoon (after averaging out the different nutritional sources I found online). I’ve used it for everything for over a decade.
My top 3 are -
Trader Joes Raw Sauerkraut with Persian Cucumbers
Trader Joes Uncured Bacon Ends And Pieces
Trader Joes Parsnips Chips
The only thing I can think of that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the baked cheese bites. I found it last week in the “new” section and posted about it in another thread.
True, but my experience was burned cheese. My oven burns a lot of things – very temperamental.
How do the sardines from Trader Joe’s compare to the sardines at Costco? I can handle the salty goodness of the trader joes sardines, even though eating sardines is for me is tricky.
I’m hitting Costco in 2 hours or so. My cats might be cashing in on little fishy tins if I don’t care for them. LOL. TIA
Have never set foot in a Costco, I don’t buy enough to justify the fee. I can say, however, that TJ’s fishies taste better than the Admiral brand that I grew up with. Personal taste.
Keto Costco runs are great!

I used to share a membership with a friend in order to lower the cost. But now all I have to do is use their rental car services, and I’ve paid for the membership. My husband saved a couple of thousand dollars on his hearing aids, and I got some really high-end glasses prescription and saved a couple of hundred dollars. And tires for the car. Not to mention the savings for buying food in bulk, of course. And now the Keto food. They probably really cater to us old folks, because we love Costco – and we have to drive almost 60 miles to the closest one.
Our new one has a gas station attached and it’s regularly 5 cents a litre cheaper (so about 20 cents a gallon for you americans ). And the propane is ridiculously cheap, too. I am so going to miss Costco when we move 2 hours away from one next year!
I sorely miss being near a Trader Joe’s. Was near one a few days ago but did not have the opportunity to go shopping. No Costco near me either. I love the variety of whole bean coffee that TJs carries, and they always have something brewed to try.
