This is a recipe that I pinched from a trip to Paris. I forgot the name of it and couldn’t find it for love nor money when I searched online. So I picked it apart and reconstructed it. There would have been sugar syrup in the original but it works without or with sweetener. One of the ones I had (yes I partook in a few places!) used bison vodka which added a nice flavour note. The name comes from a) not remembering what the original cocktail was called and b) my gorgeous niece who had recently been born when I put it in a recipe book I made for my brother’s 30th.
- vodka
- a lime
- raspberries (fresh or frozen)
- sparkling water
- sweetener to taste
- crushed ice
Simply add the ingredients to a tall glass and smush them together or you can get all fancy and shake them up in a cocktail mixer à la Tom Cruise. As to quantities, be quite generous with the lime and raspberries and just top up with vodka and sparkling water when you want seconds. I would say a lime between two - either into wedges or little chunks made by repeatedly halving it - and a few raspberries to each glass. You could add another flavour layer with some mint, basil or lemon balm. I think it is nice enough without sweetener but you could add some if you have a sweet tooth or even use a flavoured diet soda instead.
Add a twirly straw and a paper umbrella if you have them and you are good to go. Enjoy.
