Apparently local butter prices a skyrocketing as demand exceed supply. People of ditching margarine for butter and swapping back from fat-reduced to full-fat milk at an increasing pace, hence less extracted cream to make into butter. I also noticed the cream I buy for my coffee in the convenience store next to work has experienced a 30% price hike in the last few weeks, and often they’re out of stock. The times they are a-changin.

Boom! So much for an Aussie ketofest! :stuck_out_tongue:

The supply is somewhat inelastic since it takes a while to get more cows - one can imagine some real shocks coming; this is likely just the beginning.

Norway had a butter crisis too! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norwegian_butter_crisis

32oz of HWC at WalMart (non-generic) was $7.00 when I was there this weekend…

I was just going to say this… Although it’s been that price for more than a month now. The brand is land o’ lakes I think.

This is exactly why I’m not exactly thrilled with Keto becoming such a fad right now. It’s a double edged sword. I’d like people to be healthy, but I worry about not being able to afford my own food.

Yes this is what my wife has said also. She thinks I’m doing it because it’s a fad… Not really for me. I’ve never been a fad guy. It just makes sense and I feel so in control of my diet. Anyhow, like you said as demand rises there may be some short term disruptions. However, many more places will become keto “friendly” to meet that demand which is a good thing. Along with that there’ll be charlitans offering “quick fix” keto products that aren’t really keto since there’s likely no legal definition of the term…
