I’m new here and putting a stake in the ground today. I’m starting keto this evening. Why not!

I’ve been listening to the first year of 2KetoDudes for the last few months and enjoy it so much. Today I joined the forum and have been having a look around. I’m grateful for these resources.

I’m male, 61, 6’ and 215 lbs. After 20 years of cycling 100 miles/wk, I’ve been off of the bike for 18 months, dealing with some illness, and getting flabby. My goals are to feel good again, fit into clothes that I wore when I was 185, and enjoy what I eat.

I look forward to knowing you better.

Welcome, and I hope you keep in touch with your journey. There will be wins and confusing twists on the road to health (not guaranteed, but typically what happens). So, let us know what questions you run into, we are here to help. The best part is getting to eat all those “evil” foods, like bacon and butter and full-fat cheese, is back on the menu. Eating to satiety is another shocker. For me, it was nice to getting back to “eating fat to satiety”, as opposed to “eating cardboard-like-tasting food to Smartphone calorie tracking app limits”.

Welcome aboard! This is a great place with lots of great people and information.

Welcome. I’ve only been here a few days. People here are very knowledgeable. I’m a 55yr old cyclist off the bike for a while, torn quad. I’m looking to get back on soon. I’ve been Ketoish for 3-4 months. Fairly strict for 2-3. There also an exercise section with a cycling thread. I’ve heard endurance exercise really requires minimal food. I’m curious how my body will react.

Welcome! I’m fairly new here and an older cyclist as well (58). Let’s learn from each other as we go

Hello and welcome. Looking forward to hearing about your progress. Great people and wonderful resources (or is that wonderful people and great resources?) to be found within!!

That’s the journey I went on last year. I’m 57 and 6’, and I started in March at 229. I got to 185 in October and have happily stayed there since.
I got there through keto only, no exercise. But now I love cycling - it is so much easier, and other sports. I feel 20 years younger.
My advice would be to commit 100% for a month. After that point you won’t want to go back

Thank you all for your warm welcome. I’m a half-day in – big “not lean” burger patty for dinner last night, along with cole slaw made with blue cheese dressing (getting rid of packaged slaw with carrots in it – I assume there are two may carbs in the carrots). Breakfast today was pork sausage and eggs fried in plenty of butter.

I’m looking forward to learning how to shop, stock the shelves, and cook Keto. I’m also looking forward to learning hot to travel and eat out keto. I travel a lot for business.

Best of luck on your journey. The best piece of advice I’ve seen here is stay positive and not get down on yourself when progress slows or something else doesn’t go exactly as you hoped. Even if the scales aren’t moving downward as quickly as you expected, remember that there’s other healing going on and look for non-scale victories.

Thank you Tim.
