Testing just to see if I am in ketosis

Searched and haven’t found the answer to this specific question if it’s out there point me to the right direction. The question is I am new to keto and just want to know if I am in ketosis or not at this point I am not really interested in a specific number or how deep just want to see kind of a yes or no answer. Is using some of the more cost effective keto meters such as the KHC M3 breath meter an ok thing to achieve this? I know the accuracy isn’t as good as blood or ketonix but I really just want to know if I am in and not necessarily the level I am in at this point. Once I go further into my journey I know I’ll be looking at that more deeply thanks for any help

Pick up some of the urine test strips like Keto Stix. Do not worry about the amount\colour they report, just use them like a pregnancy test. They either show ketones present or not. I bought a bottle of them for around 10$, over 100 strips. I’m over 3 weeks in now and I test every now and then to satisfy curiosity but as long as you are shooting for <20g carbs it’s pretty much a guarantee you’re in ketosis after a few days.

I find the meters kind of a waste of money. Yes you are curios at first but the reality at 20G carb you will be in ketosis. After you get to know how ketosis feels you can let it guide you. Me, I can taste ketosis as it has sort of a acetone taste in my mouth. That may go away after awhile I am not sure as I think I go in and out from day to day because I ride in the <50g zone. This is because I am only ten pounds from goal weight and have no heath problems. I also like carb friendly veggies and wine each evening. You can measure or you can be confident that you are below 20g and not stress over it. I eat this way because I enjoy it and I think it promotes a health body. I don’t get upset if I stall or gain a pound because I have no plans to go back to carbs.

Why is this important to you? I’ve never had any test confirm I’ve been in ketosis and yet, 19 months later, I remain at my lowest weight since the early '90’s.

^^^This!
Sometimes you just gotta have faith.

It’s just a personal preference to know. I understand I don’t have to. So for somone who does want to know by use of a gadget thats the purpose behind the question.

My possibly incorrect theory about why I never turned those DPS¹ color is because I’ve been physically active my whole time. I’m consuming my ketones, and not urinating them out. Other more direct means may work, but it’s all a distraction, particularly if you understand low-carb as the correct health option.

The weigh management artifact is merely bacon wrap on the shrimp.

Urine strips measure the presence of acetoacetate, breath analyzers measure acetone, and blood meters measure β-hydroxybutyrate. The last is the most accurate, as you appear to know already. A cheap breathalyzer will pick up the presence of acetone, and that may be all you need to know, but it’s not any more accurate than the urine sticks. So just be aware.

If people tell you your breath smells fruity or like nail polish remover, you won’t even need the breathalyzer!

I’ve been using urine test stripes. It’s the best way!
