I know there are people out there who don’t like the taste of coffee and people who are sensitive to caffeine. I can do coffee but sometimes, near bed time, I need a warm drink with a little fat and I don’t want to be awake all night. In comes Zhena’s Carmel Chai Tea. Also, when I make hot cocoa for the kids, I make one of these for me. It’s a nice warm treat.
NOTE: On the front of the tea packaging it mentions “essence of brown sugar” but brown sugar (sugar in general) is not listed as an ingredient. It does list “natural flavoring” which, as we know, can be anything. I do not get a spike from drinking this and I stay in ketosis, but it may affect the more the sensitive folks among us. If you are a sensitive soul, you can make your own Rooibos tea and add a bit of all the ingredients listed below, minus the “natural flavoring”. I ran out once and made a nice approximation by copying the ingredients ( do go light on the ginger root, compared to the other items).
1 Mug of Zhena’s Carmel Chai Tea (Ingredients Fair Trade Certified Rooibos*, Cinnamon*, Ginger Root*, Licorice Root*, Natural Flavoring, Cloves*, Cardamom*, Nutmeg*, Black Pepper*, Vanilla Bean.*
- Certified Organic).
2 tablespoons Heavy Whipping Cream
1 teaspoon MCT oil
1 tablespoon Butter
Sweetener to taste (I use SweetLeaf Sweet Drops-I love Carmel or English Toffee)
