What’s the rationale for not drinking meat fat? I thought that as long as it was animal fat, it counted as zc/carnivore.
Super hungry after 4 days on carnivore
That’s what I would have thought too. I can’t say I make a habit of it, but I’ve been known to tip the edge of my plate into my mouth after a steak. Although I get in trouble for it when we have company over.
Tbh in my opinion whether your keto or your “carnivore” if you look up the fat content of most meats your eating it’s high fat anyways. To me it’s basically the same thing, either way I’m in ketosis. Might be completely wrong, but the 73/23 burger I eat has a crap ton of fat. I just don’t do much to any veggies. Im still in ketosis so I just call it keto. People get to caught up in names imo. Just like people get too caught up on how to do keto perfect. Just eat, be satiated and be happy.
There is some variability in how people approach the Carnivore diet from a macro nutrient perspective. Not that we count macros, but just that some find a prioritizing protein (leaner cuts and/or cooking methods that allow rendered fat to drain away) to work better for them. Others, especially those with a long history of T2D and severe insulin resistance, find that they have better results if they swing the bias more towards fattiest cuts, and taking measure to retain all the fat.
Personally, I buy whole sub-primals that have more fat on them than pre-cut steaks. I do much of my cooking in the Sous Vide, so everything stays in the bag. I tend to believe that every part of the steaks I choose is good for me, so I generally will consume everything that is in the bag.
Recently, I have been experimenting with eating once every 16 hours, and I find that on this cycle, my body seems to crave a bit more protein per meal and a bit less fat, but it varies from meal to meal. Since my steaks have lots of fat, the fat is always there, and usually I eat it all, but once in a while, My body just doesn’t crave as much fat and I leave some of it behind
I my opinion Zero-carb & Carnivore are the same diet, and it involves reducing plant based foods to no more than the seasoning/spice level and limiting dairy to only the highest fat versions, and even then only in a minor role and only if you tolerate it well.
Good grief.
The rules some people declare as gospel are getting worse.
You want to eat/drink/bathe/cavort in liquid fat?
Go for it.
Your own body and appetite will govern how much you want.
If you have too much you won’t want to eat more.
And the key thing is that you say when you drink the juices with your meal, you feel better afterwards.
'nuff said.
I did finally remember a time I just drank fat. The first time I tried making a batch of hollandaise sauce, I hadn’t actually made anything to put it on, so I poured it into a mug and drank it. It was DELICIOUS. Unfortunately it decided to make a quick exit. I figured at least I was well lubricated at that point
You have to serve it on chromium-plated dinnerware, because, as we all know, . . .
.
.
(wait for it)
.
.
. . . there’s no plates like chrome for the Hollandaise!
Fair enough, I eat really fatty meats so I get A lot of fat anyways, basically same macros as the other stuff I was doing so I just call it keto!
