Super hungry after 4 days on carnivore

#21

Yes, but Dr Baker is doing the full bodybuilder version of the diet …

But I concur with the others, unless you’re very overweight.

If you are, the hunger should eventually stabilise ; but if you’re just mildly overweight (in absolute terms I mean), then follow people’s advice and eat more.

I’m thinking about trying carnivore too, or maybe zero carb, not sure but I am interested in seeing the affects on my gut and digestive system. Maybe when I break my current fast.

Just for accuracy sake he eats between 4-5lbs per day. He’s not a bodybuilder at all, a performance athlete.

Most successful zero carb women will eat roughly 2lbs per day.

I listened to both these Chris. Found them super interesting regarding salt and water intake. Since Dropping Salt 11 Days ago I’ve been through a rough 8 day adaption first but now feel better than ever. Have intuitive thirst. Can go for my 10km run fasted without any water. I’m not even trying to, I just forget to drink because I’m no longer thirsty. Professor Noakes implied that an electrolyte imbalance is impossible when eating enough and not over consuming fluids. He said the benefits that some experience from added salt might just be that of a stimulant than anything else. Much like coffee etc. Certainly what I’ve found. No more lethargy after meals.

Most long term successful carnivores start at a minimum of two pounds that’s not including eggs and dairy, then tend to 3-4 pounds daily ,( where I am at 6 months) then settle back to 2-3 after a year or two. It’s not about captured it’s about the nutrition in the meat. Healing takes place when your body gets what it needs. Weight loss ( or gain if you need it) happens when your body heals and releases the weight it has kept from stress of being undernourished.

Eh, avocado is NOT carnivore. Try 30 days clean carnivore and then tweak if you want. 30 days, clean. Don’t cheat yourself out of these great benefits - and, yes, avocado COULD mess up your results. Don’t eat plants for 30 days.

I find it best to avoid drinking water for at least 30 minutes prior to eating a meal, no or minimal water during the meal, and no or minimal for at least 30 mins after the meal. I believe the theory is that the water dilutes stomach acid and make digesting less effective.
I drink a lot of water at times, but never around or during meals. If the food feels like it needs water to wash it down, then it’s either overcooked, or too lean.
One exception is the crappier brands of Pork Rinds, some of those will choke you out if you’re not careful :frowning: I like to save those pork rinds to make crumbs for zero carb breading. Eating them as a side dish, I try to find better brands.

That would be more like zero carb, not carnivore they do differ. No plant sources with carnivore. Zero carbs, some things will work just fine even if they are from the plant kingdom.

Good luck with your experiment.

I pour my bacon grease, beef grease, and the butter used to cook my eggs into the same bowl. All that liquid fat causes a thirst response. If I can ignore, I generally feel better after the meal.

Avocados make it keto which is fine, some people do great with Keto.

Oddy enough, same here. My water intake has dropped dramatically since starting ZC as I am just not as thirsty as I was before.
I kept waiting for negative consequences but so far ( two months plus ) so good.

I must admit I do multiple americanos from 7am to noon. We have a fancy coffee maker at work, so one shot espresso and the rest of the mug cold water. So I’m probably getting some water (16 oz maybe?) in those 5ish hours, but otherwise I’m not thirsty except at dinner when I’m drinking my fat (liquid bacon, beef, and butter).

(Elizabeth ) #34

I’m a little confused, this is a carnivore diet and zero carb / carnivore don’t drink fat, that’s Keto?

(Lonnie Hedley) #35

Where’s the carbs in my bacon beef and butter?

(Chris) #36

He’s not drinking plant oils.

(Lonnie Hedley) #37

I don’t grill because I don’t want to lose any juices. Cast iron only, pour meat juice into bowl, use it like broth.

(Elizabeth ) #38

it’s not about carbs in fact there’s carbs in seafood and they’re fine zero carb as most people understand it right now really means carnivore and it means eating meat and not drinking oils or fats. that’s a keto trick when you restricting protein, zero carbs carnivore is going to be anywhere from 20 to 35% protein which is the normal distribution in most fatty cuts of meat. The only time we add fat to it as if it’s a very lean meat like chicken breasts, but who wants to eat those anyway?

(Lonnie Hedley) #39

I see now.

(Lonnie Hedley) #40

Looks like she drains the fat instead of drinking it because carnivores don’t drink fat. Is that what you do too?

It’s funny to say that because I picked up a new outdoor griddle about a month ago. We just hosted a party and I threw a bunch of burgers on. My Aunt (who is one of the 20% where low fat has seemed to work fine for her) said it was one of the best burgers she’d ever had. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that it was the highest fat content I could find, then cooked on the griddle so that I didn’t loose any of that fatty goodness.

She also loved the mushrooms I made on the griddle to top the burgers with. I told her I used some healthy fat to sauté them. I didn’t mention that the healthy fat I was referring to was half a pack of kerrygold.
