Im eating a 10 ounce ribeye cooked in 2 tbsp. butter plus bulletproof coffee for more fat… I don’t wanna get outta hand on the fat or protein but also have read not to let yourself get hungry, maybe drink more water?
Super hungry after 4 days on carnivore
Protein is the key to satiety. Drop the bulletproof and eat more meat. Eat fatty meat until you are full to stuffed. The more you eat, the longer until you will be hungry again
Carnivore is not Keto, so the typical macros do not apply. Eat fatty meat until full. This will likely put you over what your Keto macro for protein is. I think Dr. Baker is eating 2 lbs of ribeye a day. This would be over 3x the protein you’re having.
Agree 100% with what @Untraceable and @hedleylo said. I’ll also ad, when I first went carnivore, I experienced a little of that hunger/ “empty” feeling like when going low carb to begin with. Not a full on keto flu, but there was definitely an adjustment going from around 20 grams of carbs to zero (or close to it).
Thank you, as I’ve been following my keto fat and protein macros and ya, I’m hungry… do you suggest a reduction in my fat grams as well?
Drinking more water is not a solution…your hunger will most likely level off once you’ve actually adapted. Eat to satiety, keep mindful of your waistline and adjust as necessary.
I don’t suggest a reduction in anything.
Carnivore isn’t about macros. Fatty meat to satiety (ribeye, strip, high fat ratio ground beef, etc).
I see @Dread1840 is replying. He can probably give you better detail than I can.
As with a lot of things with Keto/ZC/carnivore that goes against what is traditionally accepted, I find drinking less actually makes me feel better.
You should check out the human performance outliers podcast episodes with both Charles Washington and Tim Noakes, they go into it far deeper than I had previously delved, and it made total sense. I had a day where I drank close to 5 gallons and felt like death, on a water fast. Later I learned I probably could have met death if I had kept that going.
I drink “when thirsty” which typically means I’ll drink 8-16 oz during a super fatty dinner then I feel miserable. If I avoid drinking during that time I always feel a lot better. So my case isn’t even excess, it’s simply drinking water with a highly fatty meal.
I’ll add I get nowhere near 8x8 oz a day and don’t have any dehydration symptoms either.
I usually carry a 40oz insulated bottle with me from 4am to 5pm, some days I’ll drain it 1/4, other days I have to refill it halfway. Probably depends on what I did in the gym that morning and how strenuous or sweaty the day was.
Other than mowing the lawn, I haven’t worked out in months. Even when I did I wasn’t drinking much water.
That’s interesting… so I can now add water conservation to my list of reasons for not going to the gym. Just trying to be as green as possible
Also may have to do with my salt intake, I’ve always been a heavy salter (and a salty old asshole too).
What else is it called when you stop understanding what the kids are talking about then? I’m that!
So I’m increasing the ribeyes to 1 lb, adding a couple runny eggs on top and some avocado for my meal tomm… looking forward to it haha…
