He did not make a reasonable point when he ranted about someone not posting their stats. If someone hasn’t posted their stats, then kindly ask them to. His attitude was just mean and condescending.
Still failing at keto
Yep, I said I agree. But it seems like you came in at his rant and not his first post in which he did calmly ask for more info.
Agree, except for it didn’t seem like it, this was the case without question.
And that certainly wasn’t condescending at all! But, oh well!
@zimon you need to settle down. Lose the attitude. Flags are piling up and I would rather you change tone and the flags can go away.
I don’t want to lock this post but if folks cant play nice that is what’s going to happen.
Fat bombs are most certainly not protein. Most of the recipes I’ve seen don’t have a shred of protein. Even the ones I make with a few almonds in them have negligible protein. As to how to get more fat, heavy whipping cream, coconut oil, butter, mct oil, bacon fat, olive oil.
Admin here…
Let’s keep it civil, please. There’s no need to snark at others, and continuing to do so may result in your posts being removed. And that applies to the whole thread, not just this post.
Thanks!
You haven’t seen enough fat bomb recipes.
I agree most should be all fat, I mean that’s the point of a fat bomb. But if the recipe calls for nut butters, there will be some protein. Same if they call for flavored protein powder. Should still be mostly fat, but some fat bombs will contain a little protein. Certainly not enough to complain that the fat bomb is high in protein though.
There’s so many. I have never jumped on that train. If I make a dozen they sit in the fridge for a month.
You guys are suggesting she eat 150g protein? I think that’s a bit much. I’m a 6’ 35y/o male, 175lbs, 20%BF and my protein calc is only 64g (.8g/Kg of lean body mass). I think this may be contributing to your stall if you are taking in that much. I think someone above suggested you lower it to 80g or so. That’s probably a little better.
Anyway, sorry you kinda got your head bit off in this thread; we all do want to help. I wish I could help you with the things causing you stress and insomnia, but without knowing you or your exact situation, I don’t think anyone can speak intelligently about how to best help you with that part. But just know that it is important - possibly more important than diet (within reason, of course lol). I think once you get the stress, sleep, and exercise bit under control, the rest will fall into place. Trust me; sleep, exercise, and stress are ALL related. You may find that a light jog in the morning is the best medicine you’ve ever taken - and that may help you sleep better at night and feel less stressed.
I don’t think it’s the fat bombs that are the protein problem, but it may be the chicken. Of course this is variable, but if it’s a costco chicken eaten over “a few days” that could be a pound of chicken a day, possibly 120-150 grams of protein all by itself. Low carb nuts (macadamia, pecan and brazil are some of the lowest), full fat cheese, celery sticks dipped in ranch dressing, a cup of coffee with HWC are all much lower in protein without sacrificing calories / satiety potential.
I’m no expert but I drank a lot of water and I ate beef patties like nobody ate beef patties… like beef patties were the only thing on earth. This went on for about three weeks. After three weeks, hunger was easy to control. I should emphasize the water. I drank tons and tons of water. I still drink a lot (about 12-15L per day). I was also instructed to fast inbetween meals. I ate about 6 beef patties and then I fasted for about 20-24 hours until the next day. Then the same time the next day I ate another 6 patties. Sometimes it was bacon on weekends but mostly patties.
I remember the hunger pangs being quite bad and the beef patties were the only thing that helped. Water helped me hydrate and go to the bathroom regularly which is so important. After those three weeks, I started to vary my diet a bit more and my body naturally wanted other nourishment. I stopped all regular vitamins with iron. As a woman my periods were also immediately regulated and became quite mild. I still bleed but I barely have any cramps anymore. It just comes and goes and very predictable (28 day cycle). Sorry if too much info. Hope this helps someone out there.
If you are stressed and a full time student, check with your college or university. Many offer counseling as a perk of all those fees they charge. A few visits with a mental health professional could help you reduce the stress and anxiety, which lowers cortisol, which supports the body unloading fat.
Good luck ~ some good advice in this thread. Keep Calm, Keto On!
So sorry your struggling the only thing I can think of is the rotisserie chicken they do have sugar in them they probably would be better for an occasional thing . If your clothes feel better then that’s awesome the inches are probably falling off keep doing what your doing it will all catch up .
Exactly! The issue is also that my calories get too high when I veer to too much FAT. If I stick with protein the calories are reasonable but the protein is too high. This is a major dilemma for me. Also please consider that I don’t cook. I got an instant pot which helps a lot but I am still a stereotypical student. If it comes complete from the store or a can i’m good. So preparing the fat bombs and meat myself is a HUGe step for me.
Just driving by and noticed this comment. Pork rinds are actually fairly high fat.
It’s pork skin fried in its own fat. One of the reasons I use them so often is because they are high fat.
I just checked my package of pork rinds I have in the cupboard here. It’s a small 2 ounce bag and it contains 15 grams of fat! More than you would think.
the fat bombs are not the protein probem though there is some protein - you are correct It is difficult to address everything concisely in this thread. I tis a protein/calorie issue. I cnat seem to get one right without coming in too high on the other.
I find doing Keto but keeping calories fairly low can be quite effective. Try 1400 calories and really stick to it. Don’t worry about too much protein. Walk and maybe do some weight training. See what happens in a week.
This gal has been a huge inspiration for me. She realized she was eating junk, was honest with herself, went on calorie-restricted KETO, and slowly lost 60lbs.
Her ratios:
20-30 carbs
75 g. protein
110 g fat
I think we are seeing too many Keto fails due to too much fat (calorie dense and no nutrients) and fear of Protein (which does not spike insulin the same way as carbs and is nutrient dense and satisfying)

I’ve taken to listening to bodybuilders (ha!) as I am hardly that, I am a 50year old obese lady, but on my way down (slowly) but following this.
ok, you got me. i am seeing a lot of beef patties/ground beef turning up in this thread. I love a good steak - but nope on the ground beef.
How do you make it taste decent?
