Still failing at keto

Yikes. I absolutely would not recommend eating low-calorie it will eventually slow your metabolism.
basically break it and that’s the last thing we want!

#62

well considered and stated. Thank you!

I pan fry my beef patties in butter and season with salt and pepper. I find them delicious. I don’t do dairy but cheese would be a great topper.

#64

hmmm…that si a bit messy for me, I wonder if I could do somthing similar and in quantity in my instant pot…?

(Lonnie Hedley) #65

What brand? I stopped buying pork rinds because they were high protein, low fat. I’m not really complaining because it helped me concentrate on meals instead of snacks, but I’m still curious.

For example.

#66

I haven’t tried in my instant pot…but it does have a searing function so it could work

#67

Sounds like a job for a George Foreman style appliance or just a good old fashioned griddle. Then you could do bacon, burgers, steaks, eggs, etc etc

(Lonnie Hedley) #68

Top with over easy eggs. I’m finding a runny yolk can make almost anything taste good.

#69

genius

#70

And some :bacon:

This is my lunch today

#71

How did you keep your calories down though?

#72

Here again though, how do you keep your calories down with so much fat?

(karen) #73

Those must be AMAZING pork rinds. I’m more used to this kind:

https://jet.com/product/Utz-Regular-Pork-Rind-Barrel-18-Oz/2c357bf761b94eefaa40e921e2d00f2a?jcmp=pla:ggl:grocery_catch_all:jd_all_products:na:PLA_786581911_40564182429_pla-387353822867_c:na:na:na:2PLA15&pid=kenshoo_int&c=786581911&is_retargeting=true&clickid=38bf0f55-ff83-4086-b986-5d9dc2824544&kclid=38bf0f55-ff83-4086-b986-5d9dc2824544&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8nbBRBnEiwAqWt1zaPRcU1iY2q7QMqgu3HygH98bGTk_n_Yd15tSJPFJp_pDj9J128sFhoCYy4QAvD_BwE

  • 80 calories, 8 grams of protein in 1/2 ounce. I think yours are more like chicharonnes or cracklins - meat and skin, not just fluffy skin? (and Oooooh, how I miss those!)

#74

Just for one week try 60g protein, 10/15 carbs, 80g fat.
We’re all different, but if I ate 100g protein daily I would gain weight.

(Brandy) #75

For me, the only reason I look at the calories at all is because I run the risk of not getting enough. I eat a higher caloric intake than you, I presume. Given your stats, I’m significantly taller and heavier than you are, so I try to get at least 1700 calories on an eating day. Here’s a snapshot of today’s eating. My carbs typically fall under 15 a day and I just try to keep my protein and fat within 5 grams of my daily goal on either side.

#76

I honestly have no idea how to lower my protein and eat anything. What app os that you are using?

May I interject for a moment?

I wanted to sincerely apologize for my rant yesterday and the way I treated people. I’ve re-read my comments and have to say I was a jerk. That’s not me usually, and I just wanted people to know that. Specifically, I want to say sorry to @Queenv and @AmerHerodotus for my disrespectful demeanor.

Now, I stop hijacking this thread and let it get back to topic.

Nope. Fluffy skin only, no meat. This is the other brand I previously bought. Both are store brand, maybe that’s why. Sure there is a “decent” amount of fat, but for me the fat to protein ratio is wrong so I stopped buying them. Like I mentioned in the other post it’s helped me concentrate on meals instead of snacking so I’m not upset I don’t snack on pork rinds.

***Just looked at the Utz nutrition. Still higher protein than fat ratio. I’m always looking for products with the opposite ratio. Protein is EASY to get. Adding fat (like the OP has mentioned) is a little harder. And that’s coming from somebody eating entire sticks of butter a day.

Sweet boy.

They also are not a complete protein. The complete amino acids are not there. And I seriously doubt there’s a brand that is actually low fat. Make sure you read the package and don’t count on websites to show you nutrition such as MyFitnessPal, it’s very inaccurate. I buy Clancy’s brand from Aldi but I can guarantee you all pork rinds are the same just some taste better than others. They should all have two ingredients, pork skin and salt. They are all fried in their own fat.
