Stevia, BPC, keto aid

(Marianne) #1

Is steevia okay, or is it just artificial sweeteners that aren’t recommended? I only use about a packet a day in my coffee.

For those of you drinking BPC at breakfast, do you/can you also eat breakfast, or do you use that as your breakfast - or either?

If I am salting my food and taking a multi-vitamin, do I need to drink a keto aid for the extra minerals or is enough in the vitamin?

Thank you!

Check for fillers in the stevia. And any associated carb value. If you like using stevia it’s fine. Many people like the drops.

I think many sugar alcohols are fine as well and are better sugar substitutes than stevia or monk fruit.

My favorites are erythritol and even better is allulose. Allulose behaves almost exactly like sugar, dissolves, caramelizes and neither one have any aftertaste to me. Both are less sweet than sugar by about 30%. Erythritol is cheaper and tastes the same but doesn’t dissolve easily in large quantities. Works for some things and other things not so well.

I don’t like sweet coffee anymore and I don’t like bulletproof either. I’m a HWC and espresso kind of guy. :cowboy_hat_face:

I use Splenda because Stevia is too tinny for my taste buds. I used it before coming to keto and for me it doesn’t cause problems. Some don’t use any, some don’t have problems with them.

I used to drink it and also eat breakfast. After a while I just dropped the BP part of the coffee and continued to have just coffee with breakfast. I’ve also seen people just have it alone. It depends on you, your macros and what you prefer.

No, you don’t have to drink keto aid. Some find it very helpful especially when first starting and experiencing “keto flu”. Salting food is probably the most important thing along with staying hydrated and water is just fine. Many people also take a magnesium supplement.

Artificial sweeters don’t typically cause your blood glucose levels to spike but they often make insulin levels spike which is something we want to avoid if trying to lose weight as efficiently as possible. However, I use(d) stevia in my morning coffee and it may have slowed my weight loss a little, but I got where I wanted to go (reached goal weight 11 days ago  ).

The sweetener depends on how each individual reacts to it. I put 1 squirt of liquid stevia in my BPC and I eat breakfast with it. However, I do not use any special keto products. I stick to real foods. Everyone is different and does things differently. Its a learning curve that you just gotta test things out and see what works for you and gives you the results you want.

Thank you Marianne and your are welcome for the information.

I must admit that reaching a number on a scale didn’t make me as excited as I would have thought. What I found most exciting in my 5 month and 1 day weight loss journey was discovering a healthy relationship with food, myself and the world. That relationship has made me a better person from head to toe and to me that’s priceless. I was still that person when I was 5 or 10 pounds heavier so nothing really changed when I reached 175. :sunglasses:
