Site is slow and 99 other problems (but Eric's beard isn't one of them)

(less is more, more or less) #21

Still premature to say. We admins lack sufficient access into the innards, (not a bad thing, btw) so we can only offer what we’re hearing from the IT support crew.

(Robert C) #22

No notification on direct reply in the last half hour.

(Bacon is a many-splendoured thing) #23

You can try to turn on e-mail notifications and see if that is working properly. Shoot me a PM about wether it works or not for you, if you do try it. I’d appreciate it.

(Robert C) #24

I have always had email notification turned on - no notification in email and no notification on the site.

(Bacon is a many-splendoured thing) #25

Thanks, @RobC. It’s what I rather suspected.

(Allie) #26

Still not being notified about private messages either.

(Bacon is a many-splendoured thing) #27

I haven’t had a notification of a reply in 4 days. I get likes notifications but nothing else.

(Allie) #30

Actually now you mention it, every single notification in my notifications history is for a Like, none for replies…

We’re still working on a few outstanding items. I think we have all the plug-ins installed - like patreon and blur and the spam blocker.

The mail may be a little squirrilley in transition if some mail from the old server still is in transit. I trust that will clear up in the next few days.

Thanks for putting up with the hassle of the changes. It was necessary as we couldn’t afford to keep the forum going (even with patreon support) on the old service. We had a high performance hosted service from the manufacturers of the software which was hassle free for us, but quite expensive.

I highly recommend the hosted service from http://discourse.org if you can afford it.

I also highly recommend the new hosting services we are getting from http://www.positive-internet.com/ - they are helping us port the forum over. They are also supporting us with blog hosting via their partner blog hosting site https://timpani.co.uk/ you’ll find not only blog.2keto.com there but also https://ketowomanpodcast.com/ and https://easylocarb.com/

Both companies have gone out of their way to help us transition across.

Are all response notifications still not working

There’s my boy! Hi, Chunky!

Things are coming together. Thanks for the update, Richard. These little glitches have made us all grateful for how seamless the forum experience has been up till now. And I’ve seen major changes that haven’t gone nearly as smoothly as this one. We’re posting, we’re carrying on conversations, we’re taking care of the newcomers as they arrive, so the work is happening despit the glitches.

I caught myself complaining how slow my new (last year) computer is—and suddenly remembered back to the introduction of the IBM PC/AT. It ran at a screamingly fast 12 MHz, had a capacious 640 KB of RAM, and came with a 20 MB hard drive—more storage than we were ever going to need in our lifetimes!

Yet my 4 GHz machine, with its 8 processors, 16 GB of RAM, and 1.3 terabyte hard drive is too slow, lol!

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #33

It’s baby Chunk!

(Allie) #34

Guarding the fridge, started as he intended to continue :joy::heart:

(Chris) #35

Photos won’t upload from mobile or desktop (using Chrome stable). Hangs at 100% indefinitely. Anyone else?

(Eric - The patient needs to be patient!) #36

I’ve been able to upload from mac os x desktop chrome stable.

(Chris) #37

Weird af. Multiple computers, locales, internet connections. Home, work, wifi, wired, LTE. Nothin.

(Allie) #38

I’ve had issues with some pics being uploaded but seems OK the last few days. They were getting to 100% then getting stuck before saying there was an error and to try again.

(Roxanne) #39

I’ve been having troubles seeing pics, they load soooo slowly that it takes forever to see what people have been making for dinner.

(Bacon is a many-splendoured thing) #40

I would hesitate to speculate what the problem might be, but it may very well improve soon, as the changeover to the new server reaches completion.
