Setting macro calculator

#1

Hey everyone, been doing keto WOE since April 1, lost about 13 lbs (I am 5’4 132lbs, would like to lose about 5-8 more) I have recently read to set macro calculator to maintain instead of the deficit setting…why would one do this? I have been stalled at this weight for about 3 weeks, thoughts?

Because the extra fat is needed to fuel the process of becoming fat adapted. And because the deficit thing is a relic from CICO diets. Doing deficits lowers your metabolic set point. Meaning it will take less calories to maintain current weight.

Not that you would want to stop doing Keto, but it’s a sure fire way to gain everything back if you stop.

I do eat plenty of fat, so I think you are telling me to increase the fat calories…so if I go go to ruled.me and set for maintain, I use 20 net carbs then I will eat more, probably more fat and shift my stall…theoretically?

Are you fat adapted yet? It’s definately more important in the adaptation process, but it probably wouldn’t hurt you either way.

Have you tried fasting yet?

I am not quite fat adapted, I do anywhere from 12-16 hours no eating per day. I think perhaps increase fat calories, and do a 24 hour fast might be good. I am experiencing some old “grazing” habits resurfacing.

thank you

Don’t do this until you are fat adapted. You are hindering the process that the body is trying to do in converting to a fat burner instead of glucose.

We started around the same time and I’m getting much the same grazing feeling too.
