I have a half in 15 days and I have been strict keto since January 1. My runs have really suffered. I could not run faster than an 11 minute mile, I felt week and slow and had to walk a lot no matter what I tried. A year or so ago I was running a 25 minute 5k, which for my age is awesome (47.) I wanted that speed back. I ordered salt stick chews based on what I read somewhere, can’t remember where and I had a total of 48 carbs 45 minutes before my run this morning. I had 2 salt chews every 30 minutes and I finally felt like I had energy! This is a hilly route that I train on, my race isn’t nearly as hilly. Here are my splits. Feeling hopeful!

I hope this isn’t bad news but it took me almost three months before my running energy came back. It was worth it and I do great now

I have heard that from others as well. Do you run fasted all the time? Or do you have a few carbs before a long run or race?
