Rib Eye Steaks - No Grill?

Cooking all 4 bcause I meal prep for the week and plan each meal for the day. When im meal prepping, Im making many things at once: steaks, tuna, roasted veggies, cleaning bundles of salad greens and making fresh food for my bird and doing the dishes as I go along. Anyone who meal preps in the syle I do, knows it can sometimes be time consuming, and if I can find ways to shave time off prepping, I do.

If I dont meal prep ahead of time for the week, or most of the week, I end up.eating nonsense. Itll be keto, but not as healthy as Id like to make it.

Besides, busy to one person isnt busy to someone else. Its all relative. Some may see my life and say its not very busy, but me, whos had a lifelong struggle with energy levels, finds meal prep to be an annoying chore that needs to be done. Its a lot to do for me, esp after work or on a Sunday.

So its not too busy to throw 1 steak in a pan. Its busy to throw 4 steaks in a pan, chicken in a pan, prepping tuna, cleaning veggies, cutting veggies, roasting veggies, making bird food, containing all meals and doing dishes as I go. Thats whats busy. When all Id rather be doing is something else entirely.

Hope that answers your question.

I guess that I just like the free-style way of eating. I don’t know what I will want 4 days from now. I cook batch stuff that I can turn into different dishes, sousvide chicken thighs or pulled pork. But I like steaks fresh off the fire, pan whatever.

I was just curious, not criticizing. :cowboy_hat_face:

I feel you. Im a creature of habit. I can literally eat the same thing 5 days in a row and barely care. If I had the choice, Id like things freshly made daily, but I know myself too well and that wont happen. Plus my eating window is during my workday. Cant really seer up steaks in the office. Not in mine at least lol.

I do it because it gives me a fighting chance to stay on target. Its there, its done, all I have to do is heat it up and Im good to go. Ive left myself to my own devices too many times, and I cannot be trusted to freshly cook daily. Id be eating blocks of cheese for dinner lol.

My meal.times arent set in stone but have to.be before a certain amt of time before the gym, which I go to 5 days a week. I dont eat after the gym because I get home at like 830pm and thata too late for me and too close.to bed to be downing.1300-1500 cals.

So yeah lol

I’m with you on that one! I don’t meal prep because I’m “free-style” like @David_Stilley, but then, I don’t spend much time in the kitchen either. Just throw something together or try to use up leftovers.

This is why it takes so long. This is just the meat prep.

Not all for me but my husband also. This isnt even counting the annoying veggie cleaning n roasting

Haha! Yes. Mine is afraid of round things, so we even have to decorate with him in mind!

I’ve actually considered a air fryer when I want a quicker steak than my sous vide which I love but takes time.

@x-Dena-x hope you enjoyed them
Pan frying in butter or ghee my favourite way because it’s so quick and easy, and makes them taste amazing

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaas I did them in fresh raw buttery from the dairy. They did come out pretty good, thanks for talking sense into me lol.

I haven’t tried ghee yet. What does it taste like?

I prefer it to butter, especially as I make my own (it’s really easy, lots of us do it) and deliberately over-cook it to get a caramel like flavour to it.

Rockstar :metal:

I always hear all the things other people do and it motivates me to be less lazy lmao. I always pass the Ghee in the supermarket and wonder how it tastes. I may pick it up and give it a go.

I use an air fryer and add butter afterwards. Tastes great.

I put the cast iron pan under the broiler for about 10 minutes to heat up first. I usually just salt and pepper the steaks and haven’t ever used olive oil. Then just slap the steaks in the hot pan and slide under the broiler. They take about 8–9 minutes, no flipping necessary! I read about this method in Mark Bitman’s How to Cook Everything and I’ve never looked back.
