I have been first low-carb, then keto, for years, but I have a problem. I’m tempted to cheat. Often. Since I had some Really Bad Blood Sugar, I got scared and restarted strict keto with no cheats. After the first few days, it’s going smoothly and I have better, close to normal blood sugars— better than when I took meds.
I fasted 2 days of the 25, and today since I wasn’t hungry and didn’t want to cook, I’m fasting again. Fasting is becoming easier as I stay keto. I just can’t use my fasting as an excuse for cheating!
Restarting Keto again Day 25
Keto is a significant lifestyle, once you have recognized benefits in physical and mental health you won’t look back.
Hi Nissa, I’m in a similar position as you. I’m on Day 24, was low carb before going fully keto, and I just completed a 36 hour fast. I’ve found that since my fast, I’m way less interested in carbs and protein. Is this true for you, too? Have you felt tempted to cheat after a fast or just in general?
Lately no, I have not been tempted to cheat after fasting. Before just about every day I was tempted about 2pm to run to the store and buy a bag of chips. And in time the carb eating got worse and worse… Sticking to very strict keto when I am eating really helps, though.
Today I am on Day 3 of a fast, and my weight was 188 lbs, first time below 190 since high school. My before-lowcarb weight was 255. Feel very energetic and only rarely hungry, and a cup of tea takes care of the hunger.
