Respect

(Richard Morris) #1

Just a quick message to discuss the subject of respect.

We have 30,000 users, 29,990 are respectful of other posters. However there have been a few cases recently of posts that I thought were disrespectful of other posters, and when our admins contacted the posters … they received some lip too.

The Ketogenic Forum was built to help people suffering serious chronic disease to reverse it’s course and fix themselves. We want this place to be active, thought provoking and even confronting … but we demand it be done with respect for other posters. Play the ball, not the man. If you disagree with someone, put up a counter argument … don’t offer opinions about their personal life.

We banned one poster some time back who was intentionally and repeatedly disrespectful to other posters - many people flagged his posts so I’m sure his/her input is not missed. He did return recently under another name we killed those accounts directly. We have also suspended another poster for a few days, and will be sending warnings to others, and if needed silencing people so they can’t post for a day or so until the level of ad hominem attacks drops.

Anyone else feeling guilty about passing out candy for Halloween?

Could the problem be that? A lot of new posters appear to think KETO is a quick fix, and get frustrated without taking onboard the health benefits of it.

keto and IF changed my entire life.

I could have been dead or disabled by now.

I always feel guilty that I did not pay back to the people who I learned from and the people who helped.

It is mind bugling when I see people(very few though) who intentionlay spread negative posts.

I think the old Joe Rogan board used to banish people to a specific forum called the “Pink Room” to chill out.

I think it was supposed to have a penalty box effect. The user would only be able to post there, but perhaps could still read other forums? Not sure how that actually worked out long term.

This may be an alternative to a hard ban, if interested in intermediate steps.

Sorry to read this! I regard Internet forums as support groups, no matter how much I disagree with specific people or viewpoints. As @Richard says, we’re here to help each other.
