Readers Digest says keto no bueno

(Karl L) #1

Readers Digest includes keto in list of bad diets. I’d love to hear the source dietician as a guest on the 2KD podcast!

Readers Disgust… does that ol’ rag still exist? (Just kidding…)

Getting nutrition and diet advice from Readers Digest is about like getting marital counseling from Playboy Magazine.

clickbait

(Mark Rhodes) #4

But I have gotten divorces from there!

(Keto in Katy) #5

That was my first thought as well.

(Brian) #6

Yup! And I confess, I didn’t even click. Saw the headline and that was enough for me.

According to Reader’s Digest, I’ve been doing bullet proof coffee all wrong. I didn’t realize I needed Tibetan coffee beans.

The only thing in that article I was nodding my head at were the low-fat avocados.

Reader’s digest is held by ripplewood investment firm with major holdings in old HB. A company formally known as hostess. Any guess what they make? Ok, that’s my conspiracy theory for the day

Perhaps they’re in favor of the Twinkies diet?

Healthy clean sugar.

(Michael ) #10

You do have to admire the Twinkie. It looks cooked, but it’s not…great scott…science!

(VLC.MD) #11

And admire it’s shelf life.
Twinkies made on the day of the moon landing are … still edible !
God blessed America.

(Michael ) #12

Trans fats don’t go rancid

(Keto in Katy) #13

For very generous definitions of the word edible.

The blurp about Keto says long term it is not sustainable because "multiple nutrient deficiencies (notably fiber, vitamins and minerals) exist on the keto diet. Is this true? Everyone I know who has anecdotally shared their experience has said not only have their bad markers on blood work gotten better but they didn’t suddenly see any deficiencies. Is there any science out there about this?

Also, I like how they didn’t specify other than fiber a specific deficiency. Also, is fiber really that necessary if you’re not eating junk food? Also, eating green beans once a day, shouldn’t I be getting all the fiber I need? Based on what I have seen and read, a lot of the RDA are overstated and actually are so high to counteract the affects of the bad food pyramid advice.

ALSO, pretty much every diet is discounted here that isn’t the food pyramid. I can’t be the only one who noticed this.

lol that is highly entertaining. Keto, paleo, and IF are all bad and need to go away. Yeah, you know, those various ancestral ways of eating. :scream:

(Sheri Knauer) #18

“Introducing the Packaged and Boxed diet!” Brought to you by Hostess…

(Ketomanu) #19

“multiple nutrient deficiencies (notably fiber,…”

Fiber deficiency :joy: Very entertaining though

(Ketomanu) #20

Oh wow, they even ditch intermittent fasting. (a night’s sleep is basically a state of IF… )
