Hello everyone!
I’m a keto newbie here from Ontario, Canada. I’ve been eating the keto way since January 1st of this year. I’m hoping for some inspiration or advice from the experienced members.
My boyfriends family is Portuguese and gets together on a weekly basis, well the foods they make aren’t exactly keto friendly. My boyfriend isn’t the biggest believer in this diet either which doesn’t help. There is typically soup which is usually always thickened with potato. So far I have determined I can eat the meat and that’s where it ends but it’s not enough. I’m hoping for suggestions as to how I can get through these weekly get together without falling off the wagon. I am thinking I may need to become a coffee drinker or keep a lot of fat bombs with me.
I have fallen off the wagon twice since starting this diet. I had birthday cake which made me feel very ill. Then I was in a car accident and ate fast food while I was waiting to be examined by a doctor.
Also, I haven’t tested myself to see if I am in ketosis. I figure it will take a little bit after my last fall off the wagon. What do members prefer - do you use urine test strips? Do you recommend a blood monitor? I would love to hear what Canadian members do and where to obtain these.
