Question about carb splurge

#1

A month in pretty strict keto, 11 pounds lost, 196 down to 185 lbs.
Regular urine testing confirms light to moderate ketosis.

This morning I drank a large glass of prune juice (for digestive reasons) which is of course loaded with carbs.

Otherwise, continuing on keto meals and snacks.

Any guess on how long it will take to restore some ketosis?

I doubt one glass will do anything if you are fat adapted

If you are not fat adapted just KCKO (keep calm keto on)

“May the Force (fat adaption) be with you”

IF/EF Keto WOE is Self-Discovery

Good luck and much success in your journey in IF/EF Keto WOE

Prune juice is yum, but I wonder if some other low carb veggie juice might do the same for you.

Water, fiber, resistant starch. Start there.

If I have too many carbs it’s three days of holding into water…

That’s an n=1 question, so no one can answer it for you. I can tell you that for me, when my blood ketones are above 3 mmol, nothing I consume one time will drop it below 1. However, my glucose level will rise, which usually indicates a rise in insulin. And that it is what I’m ultimately trying to control.

Psyllium fiber is another things that can really help. It’s got a different make up than fibers like bran. I know in the US they sell it at wlamrt, the grocery store, etc… in little capsules, and it’s cheap. Just make sure to look for the words psyllium fiber. The key is plenty of water along with the fiber.

I use Psyllium husk - but not tabs, actual husks. Amazon or Indian grocery store. have 2 tbsps with water chaser, or have a larger amount.
Magic of psyllium is that it will regulate you to perfect peanut butter :poop: whether you are loose or tight to start :+1:

A word of caution on psyllium fiber, though - start slow with it if you lean at all towards constipation. Maybe a half tablespoon and ramp up 1/2T at a time from there, with PLENTY of water. Otherwise you could make matters MUCH worse.

interesting. I grew up in India, and psyllium husk is used more often for relief of constipation. Ha! I guess I am lucky that it doesnt bind me up - and I do 4T at a time if I am looking for movement.

Psyllium husk is magical - if I’m loose, it tightens, if tight, loosens. Maybe the 100% psyllium husk that I use behaves differently than psyllium husk pills, or whatever processed versions are available here.

Also possible that you are acclimated to psyllium in a way that most Americans are not.

That said, magnesium supplementation is probably a better way to move the movements.

Lucky me - I have an iron constitution - thats how I guess I got to 300lbs (220 this morning). I now take psyllium husk prophylactically when starting and ending a fast to help regulate. I don’t know if I really need it - but hey, what does it hurt?
