I’ve been eating these seeds on and off but have a suspicion they are giving me some digestive issues. I normally have maybe 50 grams each a day usually after my food. I like Sunflower seeds with a few squares of 90% chocolate.
Im hoing to give them a miss for a few days, maybe a couple of weeks as Im away for a while to see if my digestion improves but being away means different foods anyway, still keeping keto.
If things improve, or deteriorate again on resuming consumption of sunflower & pumpkin seeds, should I soak them first to germinate them a bit?

Pumpkin& Sunflower seeds to soak or not?
Well the sun flower seeds are a light yellow to white colour. My previous batch of Pumpkin seeds had an almost black look to them but my new batch are light green? Actually the black seeds tasted better, more nutty to me. Im eliminating for a couple of weeks to see if it changes.

It don’t have any of the black ones left, so don’t know if they were shelled. The green ones I now have Ive looked at and tried to peel off the outer to answer your question. It seems to have a thin green skin but I wouldn’t call it a shell, like one would see around say a hazelnut?

Okay, after searching for pumpkin seed shells which to me look a lot like pistachio shells I would say both the black and green pumpkin seeds I had/have are without shells.
They have a very thin skin on though.

there is grams and i mean grams of carbs in a few table spoons of seeds alone
Buy shelled pumpkin seeds and eat the whole thing with haul
,The haul will bind too some of the starches in the seeds,they add lots of fiber,leaves an undigested portion so less calories in the long run, helps pass stool!
also the bulk of the haul reduces the amount of carbs per portion compared too without!
you will see results then,other wise cut out the shell less seeds as 1oz of unshelled seeds equates too over one net carb
Yup yup and same goes for sunflower seeds,
makes it more of a snack food but dont eat the sunflower haul of coarse,chew and spit, olny the pumpkin seed haul should be eatin intact
Ah, slight misunderstanding here on my part. When you said shelled, I thought you meant shell still on!
I would say de-shelled, so what I’ve been buying and eating loads of is pumpkin seeds that have had the shells removed.
May explain a lot. I’ll reserve these for my Flaxseed/Hemp heart, Pumpkin, sunflower, coconut flour bread I make. May make them go a bit further.
I have been adding the pumpkin and sunflower seeds in my Fat Secret tracker app so am aware of some carbs in them. I need to cut back though as I need to lower my Triglycerides and think I’ve been having carb creep.

reduce the animal and saturated fats and replace them with fats from nuts and sea food.
Look at my past topic about it,I dropped my cholest over 100 points in a week by doing so and was still on keto!
