Powerless legs..?

(Anette) #1

Hi! I am new to the forum, but been lchf since march last year. I lost 10 kgs in 2-3 months. And then it stoped… I didn’t stress over it, until January. Then i got in ketosis, but it seems like I can’t get under 83 kgs. Just gain 2 kgs and then lose 2 kgs…over and over… did 23:1 fast, because i need to eat wirh my kids. I want to go back to fasting…

But here’s my problem…I can’t stop eating… I am not hungry. But I don’t know how else I can get energy to my legs…I feel powerless all the time…

I do salt directly on my tounge once or twice a day… and I have tried to up my fat, but then I only gained weight…

I also want to get back into weight training, but I just feel like I don’t have the energy to do it…

Anything I can/should do? Or just get my ass to the doctor? (I have had this before keto also. One of the reason I continued keto, was this energy everybody talked about)

Post your daily meal plan please

We need to see a day (or 2 or 3) of your meals.

My first thought is electrolyte imbalance. Since this has dragged on since pre-keto, I would definitely think about getting a doctor involved. Don’t just test blood levels, try to get them to test the cellular level. Blood doesn’t always tell the tale.

It sure sounds like you are missing some nutrient. I had similar symptoms for the first three months of keto and finally narrowed it down to potassium. I make avocados a regular part of my diet now. If I go four days without them I get lethargic, muscle and joint soreness and lack of energy. For me, potassium pills didn’t seem to help. Magnesium pills work, but not potassium. We are all different and keto just keeps reminding me of this. Good luck and you ought to take the advice of a doctors visit and blood test.

Yep post the meal plan, post your current macros, and your height, weight, age,BF%

and are you testing for ketosis in any way and do you have any dysfunctions?

If all else is functioning you should be consuming 1-2 teaspoons of salt a day, I recommend all day not just twice a day. So dump it into some water, or spread it on your food.

If you are gaining weight because of fat something is not right.

I normaly eat nothing until lunch, if I do it would be BPC. Handful of spinach for lunch, with 30-40 grams of sour creme and 50-60 grams of cheese.

Dinner would be fish or meat with spinache or green kale. With butter or sour creme…

And sometimes I do an omelette at nigth…2 eggs and some ham…

Or I just get some almonds

I want to eat more avocados, but they are so expensive here in Norway… and often they are rotten or not eatable at all…

Maybe this one helps?

How did you get that bodyfat measurement? Seems to be a bit high for your size and weight… Maybe you don’t actually have that much to loose? Do you know your lean body mass?

(Anette) #10

The bodyfat is just estimated from fotos I found on the ketogain group on facebook.
Lean body mass, I think 54 kg… I don’t have much muscles…

(I came for the weight loss and stayed for my sanity... ) #11

I would try to get that measured somehow. Because it might be that you are too lean to water-fast for longer.
I have an analysis scale, one with handles because they are a lot more accurate. not a dexa but good enough to give me the a good guess.
And not all muscle is visible, I have about 59 or so and I am only 167… a little hidden hulk XD

(Anette) #12

I should really consider buying a scale like that. I don’t have a dexa nearby… i think i have to drive 5-8 hours to get a dexa scan…

It is hard to tell from the foods without volumes but unless you are adding lots of fat, it seems like a fairly low calorie count. If you track your food in an app, you should give us that level of detail to be specific.

Your TDEE is over 2000 calories lightly active and you should probably be eating to that level or more (75% fat) especially if hungry. You have been LCHF for a while so probably fairly well adapted so you could consider this being in a stall. Eating more, especially fat is a pretty common approach to shaking things up. The general advice is if hungry eat more (fat).

(Anette) #14

I track mostly, and I am around 1600 calories a day, on weekends it’s higher I think…last week i hav been over 2000, but I just gained weight🙄 and I don’t feel more energiezed either…

(I came for the weight loss and stayed for my sanity... ) #15

this is quite little… I would try to increase that little by little… you might gain first, maybe your body needs to heal before it can comfortably drop fat.

I personally also found that whatever weight I put on with keto I loose ultra quickly and easily too… Like I can gain 4 pounds in a weekend, then I fast easily because I am just not hungry at all and drop 6 or 8 easily the week after.
how often do you weight yourself?

#16

I hate going the calorie route, but have you ever tracked what your eating on something like cronometer to see what your actually eating from a caloric standpoint? Seems your eating fatty foods, but I’m getting the feeling your not actually eating enough to power yourself. At least not from what you described.

Give it a shot, cronometer.com you may surprise yourself.

(Anette) #17

Every day  I was thinking that maybe I was low… But freaking out by gaining when I know it isn’t waterweight…

(Anette) #18

I will try that! :blush:thanks

Two things stuck out at me,

First its sounds like fatigue, you don’t list your salt level you intake if you were low carb that may be the start of it, with out it over time you may have stripped off potassium as well. Esp if you were fasting a lot.

You are really low on fat intake 2 oz of cheese and cream each is not nearly enough.

You say you are not hungry but you are eating, if you are stressed out you could be bringing your insulin levels high enough that you are turning the fat storage system on. Sleep, electrolytes, metabolism, and stress all play into this.

Sleep and stress are important, I cannot help you with those too much.

If you are restricting your diet constantly your metabolism will lower to match. Increase your fat intake and eat until you are full, as capnbob says I see you more along the lines 2000 cal a day. If you are practicing IF still I would exercise in the morning before you eat, then a decent to large meal first for a few days see if that makes you feel more energetic. Eating later may not be helping, trying getting more fat in, if you can try using some MCT’s from coconut oil if possible.

Spread salt through out the day, 1-2 teaspoons at min,

Again what are your target macros you are using?

Are you or have checked in any way to see if you are in ketosis?

(Anette) #20

I stay under 20 grams of carbs
And minimum 55 grams of protein… the rest from fat, but I don’t track fat that much…

I’ve used ketostix for urine… but I’ve heard many netative things about urinetesting…so I haven’t bought new ones…

Maybe the mct oil is the trick…I haven’t used that for a while now…
