Post Vaca 24 hour fast

#1

Hi all! Mission accomplished. I went home to family for a long four day visit and took the kids to grandparent visits. Remained Keto the whole time, but went way over on protein multiple times. Ketones 0.8 and going to do a 24 hour fast to get back on track. So glad to get my mind off eating on onto other things! Love fasting.

I’m doing the same thing! We went to St. Louis for a few days. I walked 20k steps a day, IF 16:8, ate keto, and came home a pound heavier than when i left :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:. I know it is water retention because I didn’t drink enough. Also I had bourbon every night. A good 24 hour fast is exactly what I need to clean all this out!

Trying the same here, week away too much red wine and finished the week a little heavy on carbs. Feeling rotten after that. Hoping this week will get me back on track!

Good luck!

How is it going? This is my first fast longer than my 16:8 IF that I typically do. I’m at about 20 hours and although I’m at home, I’m not tempted. It’s a lot easier than I thought.

Hey everyone! So glad to know I’m not alone. Your presence is encouraging and helps me to be accountable. So far so good! I did have a butter pat around lunch but I’m doing great now through dinner. Sippin some green tea for now and early to bed. I get outta work at 7, so I’m doing my hair deep conditioner and hopefully some yoga in between all the stuff I need to do for my kids. Honestly I’m not hungry! So pleased to say. Hope you are all doing well!

Sweet! Made it till 8pm and looking forward to a bedtime tea. Just about done. Who knows maybe I’ll try for noon tomorrow and get on track with my usual IF window again.

#7

Great job! 20 hrs is awesome! I’m doing well, got cranky at dinner time but not smooth sailing again. I’m thinking of all that insulin we aren’t exposing ourselves too, ahh.

#8

Me too! Can’t wait for my appetite to decrease back to normal. Also pepperoni, cheese, and sausage are Keto but not my usual fare.

#9

Mine was 2 or three pounds, but that’s the high end of my normal bounce around range. Hopefully water too! Just ate a salt packet. Strangely tasty! Ahahhaha!

I made it through Bunco. There were definitely temptations. :muscle:t3:! I have had water, coffee, and a few shakes of Mediterranean Sea Salt.

I’m thinking that I’ll wait til noon as well and pick up in my normal window. I’m just amazed that I’m not hungry. I missed the habit of eating but never got hunger pangs. I don’t think alive ever gone 36 hours without food. Ever. Or if I did I wasn’t conscious!

Ended up having breakfast today after 26 hours but back on track. Ketones now 1.3 so heading in the right direction again. Just had a big late lunch and I’m doing another 20 hours now.

That’s really encoraging to read!

#14

I should say attempting another 20!! Haha we shall see how it goes. I just keep trying. It’s almost hot tea time!

(Michelle) #15

Just keep trying! Did you make sure you were well fed prior to your fast? Sunday dinner is usually pretty awesome at my house, so I think i might do a 40ish hour fast beginning every Sunday evening since I am definitely well-fed before. Or once a week anyway.

#16

I think I need to consider that more. I got hungry.

I have managed a 36 and a 43 hour fast this week so far and going well! Attempting a 24 tomorrow as Friday night is steak night for me and hubby, can’t miss that!

#18

That’sawesome Viv! I am looking forward to when I can do that without difficulty!

this Is cool! I actually love the idea of being comfortable and energetic and not hauling around tons of food while on the road or to work. It’s definitely a learned skill for me, but trial and error are teaching me. Key for me is to very slowly increase. Now I’m dropping back to 16-18 hours IF most days so my body doesn’t freak out and try to get ALL the food! Crazy how a week of breakfast and now it’s like skipping it is hard again.
