I didn’t carb up for Christmas but went crazy with keto pizza and cookies. So, planning on a 5 day fast starting today. Will do weight training sunday morning, followed by steak. Hopefully I can do it, i might go longer if i feel good
Post Christmas fast
I was thinking about a fast after Christmas as well! I did surprise myself yesterday when I ate some SAD foods with family that I just didn’t want that much and def not seconds. I used to go back and refill my plate several times. At least keto has helped me eat less of non-keto foods when I do go off it occasionally!
I’m going to start one Friday. I really want to make it to the magical “no hunger” day. My hunger is way way better after my first fast, so maybe it will be easier this time.
Have you hit the zen anxiety point ever? There were a few times during my first fast that you could have shot bullets at me and I wouldn’t have flinched.
Went from yesterday supper to today supper. I guess that’s “intermittent fasting”.
Didn’t do anything awful for Christmas. I did eat a few extra of the keto desserts I had made… better than the real sugary stuff, but still more than I should have.
Felt good to just let the stomach rest today. I may do that a few more days before New Years. No plans for anything big then.

I made it through 4 holiday celebrations without knowingly eating any carbs. I did take keylime cheesecake fluff with me as insurance.
However, my emotions seem to all be condensed to a generalized under current of seeth. I tried masking it by helping out with the dishes, volunteering rides, etc. I don’t know if it’s just being conscious of all the stress I would have numbed with food, but it is ugly.
Is this magical zen a result of fasting? Magnesium, sodium, potassium…lol…what do I need to do to get it?
Yeah, it was the result of fasting. It came and went either day 2 or 3. It doesn’t look like I added it to my notes. I wasn’t looking for it. It happened during the transient part, before the tons of ketones hits you.
I saw Mike post that he was looking for some anxiety help wrt fasting, so I thought I would ask about it here.
I’m at nearly 28 hours! I brought a quest bar with me yesterday for Christmas and I enjoyed it after most people left. I still felt guilty bc it was so chocolaty. I have had anything like that since the beginning of October!
Good luck with your fast. I jumped back into a short fast after Christmas as I seemed to have triggered an immune response and wanted to stop it in it’s tracks. I’m currently at 43 hours and feeling good. I don’t plan to make this another long fast just a couple days. Basic plan is to fast a few days, eat a day or two, fast a few days, rinse and repeat until my birthday in 9 days. Then perhaps do another long fast to get some additional fat burned off.
Thankful I am going back on the road, where it is much easier to fast. Very easy to gain weight during this time of the year.
