Pork Neck Bones!

How did I not know the joy of roasted fresh pork neck bones?!? As someone who only wants the meat near the bone on a pork chop, I am loving well seasoned, (mustard, salt, pepper, garlic), marinated with a bit of vinegar, neck bones.

I discovered pork neck bones by accident - they were on sale and I needed something for my dogs to chew on. I roasted them in a slow oven, no seasonings, and an hour later the smells were amazing… yes, the dogs did get the bones, but not until each had been gnawed by me first ! Now I just sprinkle with salt, sometimes a little garlic powder, roast for about an hour at 350, and have a feast. Sooooo good!

My dad used to cook them in the pressure cooker with onions, then cook it with rice using the water. Ahhh, childhood days! I’ve been thinking about doing some with cauli-rice but haven’t seen any neck bones in a while.

Yummy, a ‘rice’ casserole! I must try that! Thanks for the idea! Good luck, tracking down neck bones. I found mine in my least favorite supermarket, they were the most appealing meat in the case.

I tease my friend of 30 years, that she fed me dog food long ago!

I was picking up something from her house and had a terrible chest cold. She heard me cough and offered me chicken soup. She returned to the car with a container of soup.

Days later, fully recovered, I asked her for the recipe, because I had never had homemade chicken soup and it was amazing.

She was confused and had no idea what I was referring to. She hadn’t made soup recently.

As I prompted her, suddenly the lightbulb went on. "OH, that day! I was boiling chicken for the dog!
