One more time...IR fast

Well, I’ve managed 2 x 100 hr fasts. I was hoping for longer but I think I run out of salt after 4 days. I just go starving at that point. I stumbled across an old Richard post that said these night time cravings are usually salk. I did have some on my previous fasts but no specific daily amount. So this time I’m going to have at least 2 Ketoaides a day or more. Lots of tea and sparkling water. Bone broth just had my blood sugar all over the map.

Knock on wood I can make it 7 days, but I’d like to get to 14 since Fung says that will reset your Insulin Resistance. My HOMA-IR is 4.8 or something horrid. I don’t really lose a heck of a lot of weight on keto, so hopefully this will help. My leptin also seems better each fast. I actually get full (though I’m back to pretty hungry all the time).

I’m going to start over the weekend, so it’ll be easier to ignore my wife/roommate cooking all the time. Knock on wood, by day 4 or so they will be in take out mode. Last time day 4 was Saturday and all I got was food smells all day long.

Good luck! I’m doing a three day fast… 31 hrs in. Been hungry all day, even with salt in the water…like I can really taste it. ick. I would love to be able to do 7 days, but I’m not sure. I feel all over the place with my thoughts like I can’t concentrate very well and that does not bode well for work.

For me day 2 in the am is the most hungry I get. I haven’t ever got to the no hunger stage yet. Day 4 was very low background hunger and then bigger and bigger waves. 3 days should be pretty easy. GL

Enjoy the adventure. I just crossed 60 hours with small amount of fat from a prime rib and a hand full of walnuts.

Starting out at 235.0 lbs FBG was 113 and ketones at 0.4.

Ketoaide seems to really help keep hunger at bay so far. Should have tried that sooner.

231 lbs this am. -4lbs, about half my glycogen I’d wager. 106 FBG and still 0.4 BK.

Yesterday afternoon BG was at 80. I’ve never measured that low before. Very cool.

So far hunger today is pretty good 4/10. Usually day two is the worst. Fingers crossed it holds up

Got a little tunnel vision. Love that for some reason. Must kill bison…

I was dying for some booze or a cigar or anything last night. I made some Amenita tea (mushrooms which grows down the road). It was great and tastes great with salt. I had 2-3 more steepings with more and more salt. Man I felt like 100 times better. Hunger gone. So as suspected, I need more salt. Not a few Ketoaide bottles but a few teaspoons of the stuff. Or I need more mushrooms. Hmmm. Adding some butter sounded delirious good but somehow I made it past this thought.

230 this am (-0.9 says the scale). FBG was 66. Woot. BK at 1.1. It seems to take the whole 72 hrs for me to run out of glucose and get crazy BK numbers. I should feel epic around 3-4. We’ll see.

Had some chicken bone broth (made with only bones basically, and some vinegar) with a pile of salt. Hunger very low after that. BG a few hours later is 102. Which is what I was running all yesterday. Still in fat burning levels I would guess but could be better. Good thing I’m all out of broth. I’ll have to stick with plain salt or more tea.

I’m curious about this but couldn’t find anything about it/them. Is that the name of the mushroom, or the tea?

It gets you drunk. Surely not good for you but low in calories.

So my background hunger goes away and is replaced by a knock an old lady over for a slim jim hunger. So annoying. I tried to go to bed early but my hunger woke me up at 2:30am and I had to eat. Lame lame lame. Of course there was like zero food in the house. Bacon eggs and cheese. Luckily I didn’t have to visit the coops to get eggs.

Ketones are plenty high at 1.9 at the moment, so I suppose I’ll just immediately go back to fasting. Two meals a week isn’t bad.
