Nuts are easy to over eat, A serving is normally calculated at 1/4 cup. Who can eat just a 1/4 cup?
Be wary of cashews, high carbs.
I normally see Macadamias listed as the preferred nut followed by pecans and walnuts.
My tip to keep from overeating…Buy the in shell mixed nuts and shell them as you eat them. Slows the process down and helps the give time for the “FULL” signal get from belly to brain.
I use little snack baggies to portion out nuts and I usually add a piece of dark chocolate to each bag. When the bag is empty, I`m done. The only nuts I eat are macadamias, almonds, and an occasional Brazil nut or 3. Sometimes I grab a handful of pepitas (pumpkin seeds) for a salty, magnesium-filled snack.
I bought a big container of peanuts and a pound of macadamias in October, and finished them over a month later. I weighed them before eating to ensure the amount fit my macros for the day. I won’t buy them again. They encouraged me to snack, and I would rather get the nutrients I need during my meals. They didn’t hurt me (my biomarkers continued to go down and I’ve lost 40 lbs since I started Keto on 10/2/2016) but they were an unnecessary habit.
I should probably not but it’s one of the only ways I can keep my husband on board with keto ha!
Me too, love me some peanut butter! But I abstain for the most part. (:
I only allow nuts with their shells on in my home…that way it slows me down when I eat them and satiety signal catches up eventually. I don’t need to weigh or measure the quantity…i just get fed up cracking them manually and I’m satisfied with the quantity I ate. I also keep a blend of the nuts in their shells in a container (almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia, pecans, Brazil, etc…). After eating approx 6 of them…cracking each shell off…I’m done with nuts for the entire day.
Just make sure they’re Keto people you’re eating… Grass-fed and all that.
Wouldn’t want to eat a grain-fed person… All that grain’s gotta go somewhere.
I only eat nuts with my lunch, and I count them out. Three almonds, three pecans, three macadamia nuts and sometimes some walnuts. It’s the only way for me to not overeat them!
I’ve been overeating them since Christmas.
Not going to do it again.
Just curious, would you cook me first or rip open my packaging and eat me on your way home? @Brenda

Sounds great! What kind of spices are you using, sweet or savory? Sounds like a great New Years Eve treat.
