nuPasta question please =)

I haven’t bought these yet; but I checked my Walmart and they don’t sell it. I am going to order it from Amazon, but wanted to get opinions on which package I should buy. I think Angel Hair has been mentioned as the most popular of these? Please tell me which ones you have tried, and prefer, thank you.![

(KCKO, KCFO 🥥) #2

I prefer Miracle Noodles, angle hair has better texture, the thicker ones did not go over well here. I also love Miracle Rice.

I rarely use the noodles anymore. I love my spiralizer, and just make zoodles, quick, easy and we always have some zukes or yellow squash around the house.

(Susan) #3

These are a lot more money is all?

I was trying to go cheaper was all, you get 6 of these for more than 8 of the others. I have spaghetti squash in the house and some zuchini’s but no spiralizer. I just wanted something for once in a while to have something different then what I do now is mostly just protein and a tad of vegetables and I am supposed to eat way more food/calories.

I am just having a hard time eating and getting enough calories in so thought this might help for a variety… maybe I should just avoid them then, I haven’t ordered any yet, just not sure. Thank you =).

Compare the ingredients, if they match, go for what you can afford. That is what Dr. Berry would tell you as well.

(Laurie) #5

I never noticed any difference between brands.

The angel hair is good. With the thicker ones it’s more noticeable that it isn’t real pasta.

Make sure you drain and saute the noodles before serving. Or drain and microwave. You want them to be opaque, not translucent. This improves the texture and flavor.

As you may know, I don’t cook any more. But I sure used to enjoy the shiratake noodles every once in a while.

I don’t get it. What is the point of purchasing either of these products?

(Susan) #7

@amwassil I love pasta and it is something that I miss is all =) and am really struggling to eat enough. I did have 3 packs of something like this, that had 9 calories in a pack, with no carbs, no sugar, etc. and I bought a no sugar organic pasta sauce at Walmart, and cooked ground beef, and can have a spaghetti dinner with them. I cook ground beef for making a cabbage-rice meal for the family, and shephard’ s pie for them, and tacos, etc. and I would use the pasta those times I am using the ground beef (would keep some of the ground beef on the side for me ) before I add all the junk into their ground beef (their spices, and gravies, etc that are not Keto at all).

On those evenings when I cook ground beef; then I can use mine, add the pasta sauce, and a pack of these, and I have my Keto Pasta those nights. We use ground beef a lot around here, mostly in meals I cannot have. They love pasta, and a lot of meals involving ground beef.

My calories daily are not high, and I have to eat more, so this will help make more meals available for me.

Hopefully, it will pass. I used to ‘love’ a lot stuff I no longer eat and have lost the desire to eat. Surprisingly, I don’t miss any of it very much. As a newbie I thought it would be tough ‘giving up’ all those things I previously loved, but it wasn’t. I just continue to explore the new world in its complexity.

@collaroygal

Okay, thanks! It is just for those nights that I make pasta, or shepherd’s pie, my cabbage-rice meal for the rest, so I can eat the meat (if I take some out before adding the carbage to theirs!).

@islandlight

I think since both of you ladies (and I think that Dena, and Parker also said they prefer angel hair before when we were discussing this all a few weeks ago) that that is the one to order! Thanks for the tips about sauteeing or microwaving the noodles first, Laurie, I will do that!

@amwassil

Thanks, Michael!

I’ve gone to just making meat sauce (eg, beef plus sausage, Rao’s or similar, store bought), maybe adding olives and Parmesan. That handles my cravings.

Since my kids have had real pasta (and don’t like meat sauce), they also do not like the fake stuff.

I’ve tried zoodles from zucchini, but they cause stomach upset. On the other hand, spaghetti squash does not.

(Susan) #11

@ctviggen

My hubby and kids all love pasta, and I cook it for them or they cook it themselves often. They also love Kraft Dinner… carbage carbage… and they tell me I am killing myself eating Keto… grrr grr grrr.

I think that I might ask the kids to pool their money and buy me a spiralizer for Christmas =).

Thanks for the feed-back, Bob! I have considered making the Keto lasagna with zucchini at some point too.

I’ve been making ground beef in tomato sauce with shredded cabbage and cheese lately. Not exactly the same feel as pasta, but it’s delicious! I’ve also baked it as a casserole type with ovalini mozzarella on top- delicious. I’m sure it might work with big cabbage pieces and ricotta like a lasagna!

(Susan) #13

@Erevehc

That is a great idea, to add shredded cabbage! I might try this first, it might be so similar as to work!! Thanks for the idea, that might be the solution! and more healthy and cheaper, too.

I think they are fine Susan but for adding nutrients they are pretty much inert and almost all indigestible fiber. They are near zero calorie so they might fill you up with volume but not help you up your daily food intake, in fact these will keep you from filling up on nutrient dense foods. I like @ctviggen’s concept of meat sauce dressed up with cheese and olives sans pasta. I see @x-Dena-x doing this often, just meat sauce and cheese nuked in a bowl. I think it’s a good strategy. I think you need some bacon and egg meals to help you meet your food goals. I can get more than half my fat and protein at breakfast with 2 oz. of cooked bacon and three large eggs, and that’s almost your average whole day’s macro count in just my breakfast. This kind of eating will solve your problem of adequate eating daily better than a zero carb almost no calorie noodle substitute. If you want them now and then I think it’s fine but don’t let yourself think you addressed your food needs by eating them. :cowboy_hat_face:

(Susan) #15

I get terrrible heart burn when I eat bacon and eggs, and really don’t like either…so that is why I rarely eat either. I can eat a hard boiled egg once in a while, but I am not a fan of eggs and bacon is not delicious at all to me…

(Little Miss Scare-All) #16

Parmesan Parmesan is what I call it. :slight_smile:

(Full Metal KETO AF) #17

How about breakfast sausages, does that cause problems as well? The reason I suggested B&E was that I was reading last night and you suggested it to someone else and I thought “I haven’t noticed Susan actually eating that herself?”

When was the last time you tried scrambled eggs with a handful of cheddar cheese cooked in butter (maybe some sour cream too😋)?

That might do the trick for you and if you haven’t tried this since starting keto maybe without competing with carbs in your stomach for digestion the heartburn issues may not still be there. I noticed something like this after eliminating carbs, other foods that I previously blamed for heartburn didn’t seem to bother me now. Like strong black coffee. That used to be s big trigger for me and I used lots of different creamers over the last 25 years to deal with it I recently gave up HWC and found that drinking
4-5oz of Espresso black on an empty stomach no longer causes the burn it did before. :cowboy_hat_face:

(Susan) #18

Hehe I don’t but I know that most people love this, and it is very Keto, so I do suggest it!

I don’t like the taste of eggs, I have tried to make myself eat them several times. I can tolerate the hard boiled ones at times, so if I am going out (like our Beach day August 10, I will make some for that).

I think using the cabbage as the noodles might work for me, as I love cabbage sauteed in olive oil!

Thanks for all replies everyone =).

(Full Metal KETO AF) #19

I like adding flavorful herbs like thyme, tarragon, basil pesto and cheese to eggs, it takes away quite a lot of the “egg taste”. Have you ever made a Frittata or Quiche? The eggs just become a vehicle for a lot of other flavors. Mushrooms, meats like ham or sausage, lots of flavorful cheese like Parmesan, Asiago or Swiss maybe, bell peppers and some onion and garlic powder (don’t forget salt!) go a long way towards covering up egg flavor. This is also something you can do once a week and reheat a piece in the microwave or oven and you’ll know what a portion is giving you. So easy. Just a delicious anytime of day casserole ready to eat. I do it myself now and then. Make it on a morning you’re not busy and have a couple reheats for later in the week (if your family doesn’t eat them😁).

:cowboy_hat_face:.

(Susan) #20

Okay, thanks, I will try to add stuff next time I attempt to eat eggs =).
