Hey Friends!
I’be been following the Keto plan for most of the last 9/10 weeks but I’ve struggled to see results. I started at about 234 and kinda am hovering at slightly under 230. I’ve stayed persistent a) because I know eventually I’ll figure out what I’m missing and b) I love the food and am not really missing carbs!
So here’s where I might a bit unique: I currently have two jobs, so I’m essentially working or commuting from 9pm - 1:30pm the next day, and then sleep from 2pm - 8pm (I know that’s a 6 hour window, but I’m usually closer to 5hrs a sleep per day than I am to 6hrs. I’ve heard, and some folks have been telling me, that the lack of sleep could be a bit part of why I’m not seeing results. Curious if anyone has insight on this?
Also, the other part probably is not quite hitting the carb macro. I have a really really hard time tracking food, but from a motivation, though mostly its a practical problem. At my overnight job, we order food every night (yay tech company!), and I think I’ve done a pretty good job consistently making good choices, there’s always a burger option haha though I mostly feel bad for my co-workers. I then usually am able to bring some leftovers from home with me for food at the other job, or my go-to is hot Italian sausage in our toaster oven. I think I had a problem a while back over-eating on some snacks (I had Dukes shorty sausages from Costco, f’ing amazing and only 1g carbs/sugar per serving which is great for jerky, and macadamia nuts) while driving.
Anyway, during these months, I ended up taking about 7-10 days ‘off’ because I was just frustrated (still never went crazy, but I was probably closer to 50-60g carbs/day). I’m just struggling to see results and motivated to stick with it and not sure where I need to focus attention. I also feel like I need some way to confirm that I’m in ketosis, I know the testing methods are all pretty dubious, but I just need some kind of confidence I’m “doing it right” or not. I’m also open to I.F., I’ve heard it can be useful to jump start a stubborn metabolism.
Okay, that was a lot, excited for some sage advice
Thanks!

PS - love the 2Keto podcast! I listen pretty frequently with so much time on the road.
