NON Egg Breakfast

#1

I have a 9-5 job Monday through Friday and I find it difficult if not completely impossible for me to cook the typical egg, cheese, bacon breakfast and neither do I feel comfortable filling the cube farm up with my bacon breakfast or using the microwave everyday.

Im wondering if anyone has some good high fat breakfast ideas that can keep me full and energized. At the moment Im making “Keto Oatmeal” which is basically almond milk, chia seeds, and hemp seeds but I dont want to have this everyday until the end of time.

Wondering if anyone has some good suggestions!

  1. Salami roll-ups with cream cheese
  2. Hardboiled eggs- make them ahead of time; super easy to peel and keep in a sealed container in the fridge.
  3. Do you have a hot beverage like coffee or tea in the morning? Add some whipping cream for calories to get you through to lunch.
  4. Frozen chicken or pork sausage- easy to cook ahead of time, pop in the microwave at home, and eat on the way to work?
  5. Egg, bacon, and cheese muffins- again, super easy to make ahead of time and warm up at home.
  6. Nuts- macadamia, walnuts, or pecans.
  7. Cheese chips (like Whisps)

Just a few thoughts

Bullet proof coffee would be an awesome suggestion however I dont drink caffeine due to being extremely sensitive to it. Only herbal tea!

You could have some blueberries with cream or high fat low carb yogurt. Try skyr… It’s an Icelandic fat free yogurt low in carb and high in protein. Add some cream if you want fat with it. Buy from Waitrose it’s about £1.20 for a small pot but that pot will fill you up. If in usa you can get it from health food stores https://www.icelandicprovisions.com
http://www.iseyskyr.com

Link will show you locations of where it’s sold depending on country

Promise it’s delish no prep required and very filling
My fav is the vanilla one

I mix heavy whipping cream into my herbal tea  You don’t have to go “full” bulletproof to get the effect. There are some really good decaf teas, and I’ve found that vanilla-type red tea mixes well.

I second the bullet-proof herbal tea. And not just cream - I’ve come to ADORE butter in both coffee and tea (hit it with a stick blender so it stays creamy longer)! You might end up wanting to let your tea steep longer, too …

I have some herbal “chai” tea at home that would probably taste really good with heavy cream! I might try that one for sure!

Are you opposed to non-breakfast foods for breakfast? Once I got out of the “I must have breakfast for breakfast” mindset, my whole world changed.

I’ll often bring leftovers for breakfast, or meat/cheese rollups, or bratwursts, sausages, burgers, etc.
Sometimes I make up some keto-friendly rolls or bread and bring sandwiches. I also got one of those blender bottles and will sometimes bring a protein shake blended with MCT oil and nut butter.

What about cream cheese, meat, and a pickle?

Sounds like too much hassle, why not skip a morning meal and eat breakfast at lunch?

#11

I cant make a big egg skillet at lunch either since Im still at work

(Chris) #12

Well, I was hoping moving the conversation to lunch would just take us away from eggs entirely…

I have considered skipping breakfast as part of an intermittent fasting plan

(Chris) #14

I highly suggest you look into it, I’ve been doing this for years naturally. I’m just very anti-food in the morning. Doesn’t sit well with me at all. I feel like I have to force it down.

Its always been a habit of mine to eat very light throughout breakfast and lunch (the time of the day when im most active) and then when I get home for dinner, I have a huge meal during the time of the day I am most sedentary.

(Chris) #16

Yeah, that’s what intermittent fasting is meant to stop, the snacking. Usually regardless of what a person eats, there is some insulin response in the body. Eating a tiny snack hourly is going to keep insulin active, signaling the body to store some more energy. Keeping your mealtimes restricted puts a nice cap on that insulin.

What gear do you have at home?
If you have the ability to SV, you can make some custards, like I do. 50% egg, 50% high fat dairy, about 2% salt, blend, pour into mason jars, dishwasher safe tupper or even quart ziplocks. 185x25min.

I do with heavy cream and goat cheese, but just heavy cream, cream cheese, cottage cheese, goat cheese would work for the dairy.

I unscrew the top and nuke to life at work.

Other things: I have protein shakes in the work fridge for a nice quick brekky. My frozen berries (70g b weight) with 60g of heavy cream and half a packet of sweetener would be pretty good for brekky. Or with fresh berries, it’d be more drinkable. With frozen berries, it’s roughly ice cream.

What is SV?

Sous Vide… if you don’t know, you don’t have the right gear.

I’ve made scrambled egg muffins (several different recipes on the internet) loaded with bacon, sausage and cheese. Cook a dozen and keep in the fridge. you can eat them cold, or heat them up for a quick bite.
