NoCarbvember Adventure!

(Karen) #301

Earl grey and chai tea are great black … I think putting milk in just messes with the taste. Used to drink loads of fruit teas, haven’t drank them.for a long time now, but had to pop honey in them to sweeten … pre keto of course l

I stop drinking tea between 4 & 6pm for sleep reasons. I also enjoy caffeine free herbal teas. I have a very deep drawer in the kitchen full of teas, some bags to take to work and lots of loose leaf which are soooo much tastier. Xx

(Kellyn ) #302

I haven’t really had hot tea since I cut out sweeteners. After I cut my coffee out, I will have to try them again to see if I can drink them without the sweeteners.

(Karen) #303

Good luck with that … I stopped taking sugar in tea when I was a teenager… went cold turkey for a week and it was disgusting for the first few days … by the end of the week I couldn’t stand it sweet … you know the feeling when you pick up the cup that’s sweetened by mistake!!! Yukkkkkk!! Went through a stage with the coffee of using brown sugar and got totally addicted to it until I made myself go cold turkey again. All pre keto days. We’re a funny lot aren’t we? Hahaha

I don’t do pork at all. Just eggs, salt, and some shredded cheese. If I were dirty carnivore, I’d add in some pizza sauce or herbs - but that is not today.

Currently finishing off half a chicken. Sure hope none of the kids walk in … I look like a pony-tailed neanderthal wearing fabletics and a Tshirt - ripping apart this chicken. Bones everywhere. :joy:

And the chicken oysters…OMGOSH!!! YUMMMMMMMM

(Kellyn ) #305

what are chicken oysters?

(Karen) #306

I was thinking g exact same thing …Sounds like it maybe chicken cordon bleu without the breadcrumbs

#307

food yesterday was

12 oz NY strip
almost a lb. of shrimp in butter with that
some taylor ham
1 chicken breast
1 and 1/2 of the pork loin ribs I cooked

got me leftover pork for later
got me a big mess of chuck roast from my crockpot I cooked, let me at it LOL

I AM DOWN 1 more lb. Hot darn, 2 lbs for NoCarbvember and it was a long time coming and my little waiting for ‘scale magic to happen’ yet I put no focus on that anymore…probably nothing more this month, no worries, don’t care, I just eat and let the magic happen and if it takes 6 weeks to lose a 1/2 lb I am thrilled with that at this stage in the game

home after errands and nearing 12 now and ‘almost hungry’ and thinking leftover ribs first.

after that, ugh…maybe more chicken and sardines would be fine.

food is not a focus today at all…,love these days :innocent:

My meatloaf is just eggs, salt pepper and ‘formed into a loaf’ and I found that is too much darn work now, just a burger is my lifestyle now thru the years. I was always ‘making substitutions’ for my lifestyle but now after all this time, a meatball is a burger, a meatloaf is a burger, a burger is a burger :hugs: and I just do ‘burgers now’ cause heck I won’t ‘label’ what my ground beef meal is to me anymore…but that is where I am at now :smirk:

take it slow and think about where you want to go and why you need to ‘go there’ cause some of us MUST have zc for survival for a healing happy healthy life and others go more leeway but think about you thru all this, where ya stand and what you need at all times  We do this self care for us we got it made in the shade!

So, if you flip a chicken over, just a teensy bit inward from each thigh are these two plump little pieces of meat tucked inside a bone cavity. One on each side. Shaped like oysters. I’ve decided they are dark meat. They are so smooth, and tender - average size/shape is a bit smaller than a teaspoon, but are thicker than they appear. Next to the skin, the oyster is my favorite part of the chicken.

#309

those midget chicken tenderloins, we all grab those LOL yum

rocky mt oysters are testicles and we ain’t going there HA

#310

AMAZING!!! YOU ROCK @Fangs !!! Bet yer gettin’ the skinnies now!!! LOL!!! That is so cool.

My ground beef is still frozen - so the idea may change. But, I got a long couple weeks ahead of me. Management training, truck, inventory, overtime. A meatloaf is just a nice neat little block that I can tuck away in the fridge at work, and lop off a piece when I get hungry.

Back to the work shop now. Cheers!!!

Nope…none of the Rocky Mountain variety in this house! No Way!!!

I saw strong coffee at my aunt… I poured 10 times as much water into it and it was still way too strong for me… Maybe it was a normal coffee but if my coffee is black in a spoon, it’s too strong. It should be some transparent brown  No wonder a few drops of whipping cream is enough to transform it! (But a luxurious coffee still has a lot of whipped cream :D)

I never was into coffee to the point that I would bring some with me (and that would be easy). If there is no coffee where I am (free instant coffee, other stuff has little chance, I like the smell of proper coffee though), I don’t drink coffee. Perk of not being truly addicted, I only was addicted at home and at a relative where there was good instant coffee.

But it’s over now. Yay. I think. But probably.
It really troubled me a year ago that carnivore instantly solved everything but my coffee addiction.

Yep. Milk is for Assam, that’s very strong without it… But I don’t drink that.
It was very weird to try tea with milk, we had it in an English lesson (didn’t like it) and when I frequented a tea thread on a forum and learned things (I stopped adding sugar and lemon juice to my tea then. first I needed proper tea leaves for it but now I drink anything alone. well if the tea is too boring, I add some spices. I must try things and sometimes it’s not so good) and I drank Assam with milk. So I had tea with milk about 3 times in my life and it was totally enough for me.
I am a Hungarian, we don’t do that. Well I don’t drink milk since ages… But probably cream works too… It doesn’t matter to me.

Tea coffein is just as useless to me as coffee coffein so I can drink it at 3am just fine. But for some reason I usually switch to water in my last hours of the day. I can handle cold drinks like water (I only drink it cold. really cold, lukewarm doesn’t work and only huge thirst could force me to drink hot water).

Very very rarely I get nostalgic and drink some proper for that role tea with lemon and sweetener. maybe once a year… But I drink my tea plain since… 18 years? More?

My tea and coffee drinking definitely changed a lot… Tea is one thing but coffee is bitter a bit, I reduced the sweetener very gradually, it took years to reach zero (it probably was all before keto)… But it took another few years until I was able to drink my coffee black too. But cream makes it so much better.

I thought of coffee this morning. I got bad news and I think that’s the point where a comfort eater eats some comfort food. Or drink, I guess. I am not a comfort eater, I just stop trying hard in this situation, stop care so much. But I didn’t try hard so nothing changed. And coffee wouldn’t be good for anything. It was just a thought. I run out of cream anyway. I want my super creamy coffee next time  My weekly coffee surely won’t be black! (I don’t have a 1 coffee per week rule, it just seems logical right now. No idea if I will drink some in the next week. Maybe after we go shopping to the city? Maybe not).

(Karen) #313

Ate the 2nd beef rib earlier which was almost as big as yesterdays.

And now just eaten omelette I saw being cooked on tv this morning… adapted with what I had in fridge. So 3 eggs whisked and chucked in melted butter, added smoked trout and parmigiano reggiano, topped with grated cheddar and chucked under grill. Very tasty but i can see now why the chef on tv said it was supposed to be a starter … it was so rich and took me ages to eat very slowly lol. Suppose i could have left half for tomorrow but again i needed to bump up the calories! That will no doubt be me till tomorrow … think it was a bit too rich, having to drink loads of water now hahahaha

(Kellyn ) #314

wow, sounds awesome. I will have to look for those.

(Karen) #315

I hope the bad news resolves itself quickly. We all need a little cheer in our lives and something to smile about x

(Karen) #316

@SecondBreakfast I know what you are talking about now … I love those too, always tender

#317

Chicken oysters… Rocky Mountain oysters… What one can learn here  A bit more than I wanted, actually… I am not choosy but still have my limits.
I never noticed the “chicken oysters” (lol) are different, I love all chicken meat - except the breast, of course.

Odd day. Gloom and doom but we still didn’t have proper frost…
I did weightlifting, FINALLY I can raise the weight for some exercises like my back. I am extremely behind with it, I used way bigger weights years ago when I stopped, I don’t know why. Oh well, I will go there.

I was a bit hungry today but I cooked and eat cheese so it disappeared. I had appetite problems in the last days (and I decided to make proper dishes already) and now I just can’t eat anything. But I don’t feel I need food yet so it’s fine, yesterday I ate okay, today - who knows? It’s only 6:20pm now. And I still have meat soup, it’s the perfect appetizer.

I made hake in cheesy coat  So I reached to point where I make carni food for Alvaro and I don’t eat it. I don’t fancy fish at all. Or anything else. I made sponge cakes and ice cream for myself, not like I want that. But I am very prepared now. And tomorrow I will make some other, hopefully better fish dish before I give up and don’t touch lean fish anymore (or I thoroughly mix it with other things). And on Friday I will cook liver! I found promising recipes. Except if the butcher visit yields some irresistible stuff but then I totally fry it on Thursday and avoid eating the fish  The butcher is pretty much mandatory already as I don’t have any normal meat (=not cured, not organ, not fish) and I postponed it for too long, I am curious.

(Daisy) #318

Hi Ladies and Gents,

I believe NoCarbvember is going quite well. So far, I am doing much better staying away from the Diet Coke this month than last month, although I still feel its pull. I really do think I have the same feelings for it as an alcoholic does for alcohol. I can find all kinds of reasons to justify having some: happy excuses, angry excuses, reward excuses. But for now, I’m still holding firm.

For two days my back was feeling pretty good and I thought maybe carnivore really is starting to help, but then today was not quite as good. But, I have noticed something that gives me hope. It’s hard to explain, but usually the vertebrae in my lower back feel “sticky”, like they get stuck together and I have to move around to get them unstuck. It’s always worse in the evening. This week, I have not had that sticky feeling. I think I went through a brief oxalate dump last week and when it was over, that sticky feeling seemed to go away, too. Maybe there were some oxalate crystals around those vertebrae that got cleaned out. :woman_shrugging:

I am very interested to see if the trend continues. I imagine there will be good days and bad days. I hope that over time, the good days will start to outnumber the bad days.
