NoCarbvember Adventure!

I had a lovely fasting day. Did drink a couple sips of broth before church because I was doing some work outside in the rain and caught a little bit of a chill. But it was meat broth, which I don’t like heated. So after about 3 sips to warm me up, I was done. Otherwise feeling great! I plan to break my fast some time tomorrow morning with a burger, cheese, bacon, eggs and pâté.

@Karen18 I have had condensed milk in my coffee at times gone by too, I have spent a fair bit of time traveling in Vietnam over the last fifteen years and coffee with condensed milk is a staple there.

Day 19 here of zc, as I started the last bit of Oct. Definitely feeling a whole lot leaner already. Plants have not tempted me, although normally I would eat soooo many greens each day. Holding strong, will be interesting at the end of this months experiment if I even want to go back to my mega salad munching ways. We shall see…

cool. hey don’t discount you could be gonna start to lose again. I lost nothing for about 1.5 years also, yea same as you, and right now my body is ever so slowly losing about 1 to 1.5 lbs per month. My weight loss kicked back in and again, while super slow…the time on eating this way all of the sudden can kick right back up and change again.

So yea, your body might be changing up again and you might very slowly start to lose a few more lbs. I am heading into year 4 now and I never thought I would start losing again cause it was so long I was so stable after losing about 60 lbs…and here I am finally losing my vanity lbs I want gone. So hold on for the ride, we truly never know what will change or when it will change on zero carb plan

@Ketodaisy
I lost about 60 and that was ‘my goal number’ but now I want about another 15 gone in vanity lbs. So that is what I am chipping away at, those last vanity lbs I would love to lose. When I started I always said if I can get rid of 50-60 I would be thrilled, and I got rid of those :sunny:, but of course a few extra vanity lbs to boot would be lovely LOL ZC stalled out on me but now it is kicking back in for losing lbs but this time, very very slowly but I say over and over I am cool with that. I just eat and the body changes…my kind of eating plan

Ahh that is very interesting VE! Maybe things are ever so slowly changing for you physically to give you more improvements for your back. Time is what will show that of course but wishing you all the darn improvements you can get!!

Yea on thing about diet soda is it is ‘just another drink’ which is what I found kinda drew me to wanting it again…like I drink water. And water. And water and guess what, water LOL and at some point my mind says OMG GIVE me something else to drink please HAHA and I think that is a draw too. One day I thought what in the heck can I drink? I hate coffee, dislike tea now, can’t drink that fake sweetener junky drinks out there, hmmm, water is it and I tell ya your mind says, oh come on! water is it? yea it is and every now and then I still get a twinge of OMG what is there but water? I now find it funny cause we go out and I see everyone ordering sweet tea or a soda or whatever and I am water water water. So your mind could be playing with ya like it plays with me sometimes. just an observation I found crazy about drinks in my life.
Wait, no drinks, just water

@SecondBreakfast
a big old meatloaf is a great way to have food on hand when ya need it.
You work so hard, you deserve a big meatloaf

-------------good NoCarbvember morn!

food yesterday was

12 oz NY Strip steak
1 country style pork rib
few bites of crockpot chuck roast
small cheeseburger patty

not alot of food. had a darn sinus headache. pills fixed me on that one and feel alot better so food on my mind this morning.

just cruising along on zero carb. I love my plan. It suits me so well. I am a mega meat/seafood lover to the ultimate so I easily fit right in this plan and just enjoy it so much. I like that, loving what one eats is to me 99% of the battle in changing our eating so I got lucky on this plan!

wow the month is moving on, heading into 1/2 way thru.

everyone start thinking and prepping for holidays in your mind if you are one who has holidays coming at ya sooner than later. Pre-prep and just wrapping your head around it and making peace with it all is a good thing for me and I do that but I also make sure I have the best of the best good old meat/seafood around me at holiday times!

4 eggs scrambled and 2 slices fried haloumi for breakfast date with my mum.

Then picked apart a roasted chicken carcase including finding the oysters.

Beach walk in the sun with Billie the Labrador.

Then back to work (paperwork) and fixing other people’s problems.

Roast beef cold slices (leftovers) for dinner and a litre of mineral water.

I keep getting distracted by the looming summer beach days only 2 weeks away and getting stuck into that job list for around the house - building walls, digging trenches, making art, shifting a caravan, creating a cat meshed paradise for the girls, starting my mini-indoor farm…

(Vic) #325

Interesting. Thanks

#326

ain’t that the truth of it all right? our lives are not our own to do with as we please most of the time, ugh

you got a long to do list there FB! summer beach weather is like 2 weeks away, ahhhh you so lucky you got great surf weather and more coming your way. I am gonna go into cold times now, the words ‘snow flurries’ are making me Brrrr even before we get any.

(Vic) #327

(Daisy) #328

#329

I think we got a picture competition going down on the thread

I love it, the pics of the meals are wonderful. I love seeing a slap full plate of meat and seafood!

when I get an Iphone in the future (kid will be learning to drive soon now and college is looming and her going out and about----then I need one, a must for contact with her at all times, but right now I hate cell phones and won’t get one) but once I do have one I will be posting meal pics too!! I love seeing what people eat :sunny:
Yes I am a soon to be 59 yr old dinosaur about cell phones HAHA

(Karen) #330

When I got my first iPhone my daughter broadcast in FB that mummy has finally got a grown up phone! Haven’t gone back … I don’t have to have the latest phone but did upgrade from the original iphone about 3 years ago to a Galaxy S9+ which I only did because the iPhone wouldn’t hold enough photos and videos lol. I must admit I did ‘Flash it’ under my daughters nose when I got it hahahaha and it was so much easier to use as I am also a dinosaur when it comes to technology. Apparently I never ceases to amaze my daughter when I manage to do some tech with it all by myself lol.

I’m afraid you will wonder what you ever did without it once you get one !

(Kellyn ) #331

I feel ya, Edith. I do this with coffee. It’s good to hear that you are hanging in there and holding firm.

I find sparkling water or seltzer is a nice change from just water. I think it is a required taste though.

It is a dreary, rainy day here today. I had two eggs in butter this morning and brought some hamburgers for lunch. I think I will be eating chicken wings tonight and then I get to watch my daughter play her last game of volleyball in our church league.

(Karen) #332

@Shinita my big drawer of teas lol like I said I like a variety and have just ordered some more online!! Under the boxes are all the tins of loose tea :slight_smile:20201112_105216|666x500

(Karen) #333

Lunch _ chicken breast fillets slow cooked in the leftover tandoori stock I cooked the breast of lamb in the other day and added grated cheese as I reheated it over the hob. So delish and had a taste of lasagne to it.

The omelette last night which I mentioned was too rich for my taste buds gave me dreadful indigestion and I spent a couple of hours after belching the loudest bumps!!! Like you really needed to know that lol. I won’t be making it like that again. Don’t know whether it was because I used 3 eggs instead of usual 2 or whether it was 2 different cheeses on top of smoked trout??? One to put down to trial and error!

(Daisy) #334

Guys… this meal…
What a delicious, nutrient powerhouse fast breaker! I started with meat broth as I prepared this beauty. Eggs and bacon. Chicken/beef liver pâté. Roasted bone marrow. 75/25 ground beef with bacon and Muenster cheese. Hot dog chili (ok, dirty carni on that one, but I’ve heated it up 3 different days before remembering to take it out of the microwave :joy:) I ended up spooning the roasted bone marrow over the burger and the bacon and topping with Redmond real salt. Holy cow, it was so delicious!

great post and I sure get what you are saying. I know when I get a phone I will be snapping pics of ‘outrageous prices per lb.’ on my king crab legs and post them. I kinda don’t want one cause I know it will change me LOL I like old times, easy times, a phone in my hand might complicate my life cause of my obsessive personality but hey I will be like you and just go for it hook line and sinker when I gotta!!

My kid had an Iphone so young and truly it is part of her hand. It is weird to me that phones are part of lives, a monster part like that but hey, put a mini computer in everyone’s hands and all heck breaks loose in this world HAHA I might as well join in at some point
Imagine me out there all the time, Ohhhhhhhh, many best be scared :skull: :flushed:

Trial and error on our meals. oh yea, but good thing is we know and can adapt

@KellynP, enjoy those wings and the game. we are flooding here, weather is horrifying so enjoy your good weather, OR is the game inside? just wondering. I ate so many wings in my days on zc, omg they were fab!

Sparkling water or anything with ANY bubbles bloats me so bad. I blow up like a balloon. I truly can’t stand it, no bubbles ever for me. Anything carbonated is out and yea, many find it great but unfortunately it is off my list.

@Ketodaisy
wow and wow. you hit your carnivore stride like no tomorrow!!! that richness and delish of that food is just jaw dropping!

I know you are SO ZC KD that you are just rocking this lifestyle!

(Kellyn ) #336

The game is indoors. It is rainy cats and dogs here. lol I think the weather is supposed to clear up some this afternoon though.
I’m sorry to hear that sparkling water bloats you. I just love the stuff. I drink a few cans daily, it’s a nice change to water.

(Vic) #337

Is inspirational. Eggs and bone marrow will be on the menu soon

(Edith) #338

I thought I had a pretty good carnivore breakfast with chicken liver pate, fried egg (with double yolk), hamburger (80/20), and chicken broth. You got me with the bone marrow. :grinning:

(Daisy) #339

:joy::joy: yours sounds delightful!!

I am originally a programmer but I dislike smartphones actually… I couldn’t buy a not smart one last time and I need to charge the stupid thing almost every day and it has some annoying things but the not smart ones had it too… Oh well.
(I bought an old iPhone years ago for certain purposes… I only use it for alarm, though… I am horrible. It has wonderful resolution… well I can’t use it as a phone as it doesn’t work with a SID card but I didn’t buy for that.)

I use a camera for making photos, it was semi-professional 15 years ago or something. My phone and our tablet (useful thing) has very serious limits regarding photos. My kitchen has little light all the time, a phone can’t focus close… And I ADORE my macro lens though it’s for making shots of flowers and fruits and other tiny things, a whole plate is big, a not so expensive fancy lens is fine.

I am just over some almost alarming days (nope, I am an optimist and I always have ideas when something can’t seem to work well) when I almost hated all my food. Today’s curried fish with egg was way better, still not my fav but I was cheerful as a big pork chuck was taking its sweet time in the oven. It takes so, so, so much time so the fish had its time to shine as my only option for something else than the usual cold things.

We visited the butcher  I have pig liver too  A pig has a super huge liver, I only bought a piece. A 700g piece. I ate pig liver before, it was hard, not as lovely as chicken liver but I will figure out how to make it just awesome. I guess.
There wasn’t a big variety there, smallish vill… I mean, town but I lived in a way bigger village  And we went in the last opening hours… Only chicken and pork was available (the seller said he had beef but it sold out), turkey only if one orders it… It’s not bad, pork is my fav anyway. And it’s just one source of meat but an easily accessible one.

Alvaro so wanted roasted pork chuck since some time… And it has the perfect fat/protein ratio for me. I remembered pork ribs fondly from my childhood but we had it and it’s too fatty. Pork chop is way too lean. But chuck must be perfect.

It’s dark outside and even the camera… Okay, maybe the camera. But I won’t stand up right now. So no photo yet.
But yay. I won’t have problems tomorrow and I am fine today as well. I have thoughts but I will write about my plans and changes and whatnots when my 2nd week is done. I never wrote about my goals for November, I think…

Everything is normal and goes smooth and I even will enjoy my food again, it seems. Maybe I will have appetite too, I don’t have it now but well, I ate. So the chuck roast must wait until I get a bit hungry again  My last very normal meat dish was on Sunday (only meat in soup, fish and smoked pork since then) and this is one of my favs, I never ate a chuck roast before. Or if I did, I don’t remember. So it’s exciting. And it’s a big piece (1340g, almost 3 pounds), so much for us but I won’t put it into the freezer… We will eat it eventually. If I don’t wait for Alvaro, I won’t even need a particularly long time… But it LOOKS big  And we eat so many other things as well. (I am bored of everything else though except egg milk with cream. We will sort it out who eats how much meat, I suppose. I usually split it into two but it’s so much now and I don’t play with my meat forever like Alvaro who would eat a young rabbit for a week, fortunately I help. I start to miss rabbit stew…)
