NoCarbvember Adventure!

(Karen) #281

My very tasty slow cooked beef rib eaten cold .
The dripping seen on top was really good eaten with the meat.
Had a cheese omelette a little later,.

Not feeling hungry today. I don’t think I am ever really hungry but have got into the habit of eating for sake of getting the calories in. They will have to be a bit low today.

(Karen) #282

@fangs I enjoy reading your posts and you give good advice. You sound very like me in that you say what you think and are straight down the line and to the point, no grey areas with you. Just as I like it. X

(Vic) #283

Looks very tasty Karen :+1:

(Daisy) #284

I got my hands on some quail eggs today!! I won’t get to eat any until Friday (apparently you need egg scissors??) but that’s fine. I ate today already, won’t eat tomorrow, so just have Thursday that I’ll be sad haha. I’m so excited to try them though. I bartered some of my eggs for these!

Oh those quail eggs are so cute! Snack size, like candy for carnis

that is wild KD cause I react opposite. I like ‘direct no nonsense boundaries’ and I thrive in that and here you are thriving in the opposite situation. Too funny but hey, this is where we must know us and learn truths about us so we can bob and weave thru it and make it all good long term.

LOL banned? heck that is so carnivore it is scary it is so on point
love your meals!

that is one nice pic of some yummy meat!!

yea I am not really a gray area person. I am very direct type but ya know since I went on zero carb, heck I am now even more direct and I know that can pull on some nerves sometimes but hey I ‘yam who I yam’ ya know.

and get this, my name is Karen also! wow  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

----------I had to hit the vet today and I haven’t seen Dr K in a while, I have been hitting days the other Dr has been working and Dr K walked in and saw my dog and looked at me and said, wow you lost alot of weight, you are looking great…and I beamed.

heyb someone noticed! Love that. I barely am losing now on that scale but even I can feel me thinner and thinner as the days go by without worrying one ounce about that darn scale.

I got 4 giant country style pork ribs in the oven.

I got a monster 3 lb. chuck roast in the crockpot.

I am setting me up to eat great the next few days on all that meat!

kinda got tired of ‘daily cooking’ so today I am putting up some bulk. yum.

(Kellyn ) #287

Congratulations! It does feel good to have someone notice.

(Karen) #288

Must be the ‘Karen’ thing haha

#289

I was born on Pearl Harbor day and Dad wanted to name me Pearl.

Mom said nope, Karen it is and I thank my mom every day for that HAHA

Idk, I actually like my name but younger people say is that spelled Caryn? Caryn? uh, no…when was that invented? I only know Karen

(Daisy) #290

@Fangs @Karen18
But rough year to be named Karen :joy:

(Karen) #291

I know! how bad is that? lol my saving grace is my family pronounced it car-wren, named by my polish grand parents on my Dads side.

Horked down 2 more ribeyes for dinner, another 2 beef hot dogs, sipping on some hot tea before I attack the workshop.

I thought I was going to have all these steaks to myself for a few days while hubby was on his trip. Nopity. Nope, nope, nope. 2 steaks for the boy- who showed up here after work, hungry. 1 steak for the youngest kid. The last steak went to my oldest daughter who just finished up guiding a 5 hour mine tour underground. She texted me to say she was “Hangry”. That kid needs a steady supply of protein or she’ll pass out. So, I look forward to feeding her good food whenever I can. I’d gladly give it up for her. So…gonna go dig in the freezer and see if we can find some beef cheeks or chuckie roast. Or, more steaks. =)

I’ve been reading this thread and the issues with coffee, and hear ya loud and clear. I am a java-junkie. Been drinking the stuff since I was seven years old. I have Mr. Coffee, a percolator, a French press, and an Aero press. I have coffee up the wazoo. Everything from Peaberry from Kauai reserve to Dunkin Donut and Taster’s Choice instant, local roasters, regional roasters. I LOVE coffee. But. Here is what I have found since becoming fat adapted and now carnivore: My body no longer NEEDS all that coffee. I will have one maybe two cups a day. And, that first one is a doozy. I take my time with it- usually using a press to get the best, strongest taste. If I’m lazy, Mr. Coffee does the job. But I add in a scoop of collagen peptides, and sometimes- just a little plunk of heavy cream. I might have some later in the day, once in a while- my idea of social drinking! LOL! But, as much as I love the taste and smell- my body just doesn’t crave it like it used to. It may just take more time for that to occur for other folks. I know a lot of things were purged from my body when I did/do EF, and it surely helped in the fat adaptation process. I just woke up one day, and only had a cup and a half of a second cup- never finished it. That’s the norm for me now. So give yourselves time, wean yourselves off the cream. Use the heavy cream as a “treat” once in awhile. See how that goes, and maybe the consumption will gradually lessen.

I’m really craving some fried chicken skin now. Makes the best doggone chips! That will have to wait though. Too much work to do now.
Have a good evening, and carni on.

I have most of those coffee gadgets too, and even take a portable grinder hiking with me. I will say that I only ever take one pair of undies , even on a multiday hike, but a coffee grinder is more essential to my well being than clean underwear!
I too am not having as many since Carnivore, just feel too full.
What I have liked to have once or twice a week since going zc- especially as we are moving into Summer- is a shot of espresso over ice cubes, topped with whipped cream. I have a cannister, so make my own whipped cream from just plain old heavy cream, no sweeteners or flavourings.

Lunch

#295

Tonight dinner was:

warm roast beef with cold duck (leg) meat on it. the duck was wrapped in smoked salmon and a slice of Swiss cheese.

Since I had that NY strip steak I have really found that satiety switch.

#296

LOL! I’m dyin’!!! That’s is hilarious. I have the camping gear percolator for over the open fire - no portable grinder though. I have a couple grinders here at home, though.
I LOVE your summer time treat! I confess to a similar thing during the summer too - Americano w heavy cream, with 3 espresso shots, over ice. There is a fabulous satellite coffee shop near my work, and I hit there every now and then when 'm craving that taste. Winter is beginning here, so I’ll be doing the hot version of that once every week or two. DELISH.

#297

Well Peeps, Winter has arrived, I think. Woke up to about 2 inches of snow on the ground, grey sky and blustery winds. I need to take my daughter to school, but it seems like a good day to stay home otherwise.
I think I might change things up, and make carnivore meatloaf today. That’ll be good for lunches at work, me thinks.
Well…off to take the kid, then spend the day in the workshop. Have a great day, all!!!

Use to be a total coffee addict. Went through a stage of drinking it with condensed milk, then dropping chocolates in and then moved on to black and strong … the stronger the better … strong enough to stand a spoon in it!. Drank copious amounts when at work and loved the jittery feeling.

Had to take a fitness test at work, a yearly occurance and I have to have BP taken as I have been prone to it being high since my 2nd child was born 33 yrs ago and it was way way high and they wouldn’t allow me to take the test. That was very frustrating as I felt great and ready to do the test as a pre warm up to the gym at lunchtime. Never had problems with the test it’s a cinch. Anyway decided that was it and stopped cold turkey . I don’t miss it these days as that was maybe 3 years ago now but on one or two occasions I have got a whiff and could murder one! Never succumbed though. I just drink earl grey and water these days.

@jules love the preference of coffee grinder over undies … made me howl

(Kellyn ) #299

Great idea, SB. I actually put in one less tbsp of HWC this morning. I will continue to decrease the HWC and cups of coffee I drink each day.

interesting…how do you make that? pork rinds and egg?

Good for you, Karen. I will get there one day soon. I know once cutting it out completely, I will eventually lose my desire for it. I don’t think I could do black tea, but I am thinking for something hot I might try just hot water.

My NoCarbVember is going well food wise.

The leaves are coming off the trees in the very gusty winds we are having. The weather is strangely mild for the time of year, because of the heavy cloud cover, but the wood fired stove is a joy in the evenings.

The dog and I walked for over two hours in the woods this morning. She is absolutely flat out, so I am going to leave her sleeping in the kitchen and go and do a little of the massive ironing pile.
